Rare CruisinCrow Posted December 30, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2013 We've been to Nassau several times in January. I try not to do something that requires advance reservations. That way we can play it by ear, depending on the weather. So far, we've been lucky and have had decent weather. Last year we got day passes at RIU Palace on Paradise Island. We hung out by the pool and beach and then walked to the Cloisters, the remains of an old French monastery. Another time we went to Ardastra Gardens and Zoo and then had lunch at the Fish Fry. Another time we spent the day at Atlantis. We got the beach day passes so we could walk around more of the resort and see the different animal habitats. A walking tour is also nice. We were in Nassau in September and walked to Graycliff and took a tour of the chocolate factory, then went to John's Watlings distillery for a rum tasting. If the weather is bad, your ship won't go to Coco Cay at all and you'll have a day at sea. The cruise director will have extra activities onboard the ship. The water is pretty chilly in January but if you get to Coco Cay you can still enjoy the beach, try out a kayak, go down the water slide or take a nature walk. (Enjoy Enchantment - it's a great ship!)
lady99 Posted December 30, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 30, 2013 We'll be there on the RCI Majesty of the Sea from 1/24 - 1/27. I've been out there in early April where the weather was warm and we just had the beach day at Coco Cay and then, did the glass bottom boat in Nassau which wasn't bad but I wouldn't have loved to do something more! MuffyKismet Posted January 6, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 6, 2014 We just got back today from the Bahamas from Carnival Imagination! We have been there many times before and have done a variety of things (always booked privately not through the ship). We have done Day pass (through comfort suites across from Atlantis) which provides you full access to Atlantis water park and beach We have done day pass and all inclusive Breezes resort only $55 pp all you can eat and drink and non motorized equipment And this last time we did a GREAT private taxi tour with Mario "nino" Bethel Taxi #126 from Go To Guy Taxi and Tour Service for only $25.00 pp and he was GREAT!! Saw the good and bad of Nassau and got free sample of conch fritters! Well worth the $25.00!!! (he was right at the end of the pier, I also got his business card if you should need his contact info) Hope this helps

MuffyKismet Posted January 7, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 7, 2014 The weather was great around 78 to 80 , Friday night when we left Miami we had 8 ft swells , lots of people got sea sick including staff!!! But waters calmed later that evening around 10pm and smooth sailing rest of trip. We got in Monday morning feel sorry for the next cruise (mon - fri) key west and cozumel, suppose to dipp down to 39 degrees and swells up to 18 ft YIKES for those cruisers!!!! Ubiquitous Cruiser Posted January 7, 2014 #11 Share Posted January 7, 2014 We just got back from Nassau & did the Tru Bahamian Bites of Nassau Food Tasting and Cultural Walking Tour ... Highly recommend it!
Paradisefound619 Posted January 7, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 7, 2014 We were in Nassau on December 28th on the Carnival Fantasy. We really enjoyed Adam exploring the island. We did John Watling's Rum Distillery, the Fish Fry area and Junkanoo Beach. Great weather even with some clouds so hanging out at the beach for a while was a must...especially because we are from Wisconsin ;). Have fun and let me know if you have questions! jacksmom09 Posted January 8, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted January 8, 2014 How is the best way to book the day pass at comfort suites/Atlantis?
heatherandjohn Posted January 8, 2014 #14 Share Posted January 8, 2014 We are also really interested in Atlantis and hoping it is warm enough to swim. Are the pools heated? We will be on Majesty of the seas 1/20/14- 1/24/14. Thanks, Heather
kccrzr Posted January 9, 2014 #15 Share Posted January 9, 2014 How is the best way to book the day pass at comfort suites/Atlantis? A day pass is really a misnomer for the Comfort Suites. You actually need to book a room for the night (of the day you are in port) and then you just don't stay the night. You can use the room to shower and change if you want after your day at Atlantis. When you arrive at Comfort Suites in the morning, you will be given a voucher to take to the adventures desk in the Atlantis resort where you will be given a wrist band to get into the water park. Plan on arriving just as Atlantis opens because it can get crowded fast. Paying for a night at the Comfort Suites is often less than buying the Atlantis day pass directly from the resort or through the cruise line. If it is not less, don't book the room unless you really want a place to shower and change.
lady99 Posted January 10, 2014 #16 Share Posted January 10, 2014 I was hoping to get more information aout the Breezes resort all day pass. They didn't have much information on their website. Should I just call them?
