My wife and I are trying to decide on which of the following 2 cruises to take. We are going for our 10 year anninversary. Any help would be appreciated. For the looks of it the Epic looks like the nicer ship but don't know what to do. Thanks in advance!

7 day aboard the Norwegian Epic:

Stops in:

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Costa Maya, Mexico

Cozumel, Mexico

or

8 day aboad the Carnival Freedom:

Stops in:

Grand Turks

San Jaun

St. Marten

St. Thomas

It would depend if the ports or the ship was most important to you. I am big on ports and would much prefer the Carnival itinerary. I would read reviews of each ship and determine which ship best suited my personality and activities and weigh that against the port selection.

Which is cheaper? Which fits into your schedule better?

Longer is usually preferable. I will almost always pick Eastern over Western Caribbean but other people are the opposite.

Thanks. The Cruise on the Epic is cheaper but not by much considering it is a day shorter. We are really unsure about which cruise ship to do? By pictures and list of what is on the ship the Epic looks nicer but trying figure out if that is the end all be all.

Based on the itinerary alone, Carnival Freedom. We don't get off the ship in Jamaica and I'm not that crazy about Costa Maya. On the other hand, we do love the eastern ports. Just my opinion, of course

I really enjoyed the Epic and will likely sail the Epic next year because we have a future cruise certificate - but for your options, I like the itinerary on the Freedom better. My husband LOVES Maho Beach on St. Maarten (see big planes take off and land!) and St. Thomas is beautiful. Never been to San Juan, but we're stopping there in a couple weeks and everyone seems to have good things to say about it. Plus, it's a day longer. My choice would be the Freedom.

Grand Turk is a nice little island--we had a blast at Margaritaville! We got off the ship as soon as we docked so we could score a lounger by their pool. (love that swim up bar!)

St. Maarten--second Maho Bar or head to the French side for sophistication.

Sapphire Beach on St. Thomas is one of our fav beaches anywhere.

Have not done San Juan.

Regarding the NCL itinerary--not bad

Costa Maya--did the ruins, really liked that excursion, but not desire to go back

Ocho Rios--the only Caribbean destination where we ALWAYS do a ship excursion (safety); did love zip-lining there

Cozumel--have had fun at Paradise Beach; are trying the more exclusive Nachi Cocum this trip ($55pp all inclusive, limited to 100 people/day)

Personally I just find the Eastern Caribbean to be more restful than Western; the sales people in Mexico (both Eastern & Western coasts) & Jamaica have always been extremely aggressive. We have never found this in the Eastern/Southern Caribbean.
