10am flight?

I agree with the others - I wouldn't even attempt a 10:00 am flight. I'm a coward and I've seen us not be able to get off the ship until 8:00 am and delays because of customs. Not my cup of tea.

Hi all,can I make this flight fromVan if I self disembark Ship.ship arrives at 7am.

Thanks,Jim.

I wouldn't do it! If all goes well, self-disembark (with your own luggage) will commence around 0730hrs; then you'll have the ride to the airport, check-in + security with more than likely a 0930 hrs boarding time for your flight; that's pushing it! If, however, Mr. Murphy makes an unannounced appearance anywhere that morning, you'll be looking at a severe case of anxiety which will ruin your just completed vac. Play it safe and get a flt after 1200 out of always nice YVR

We have always liked to depart without any tension connected with flight home...would rather just relax at the airport for a few extra hours and wait for a flight around 1 pm instead of worrying about connections, baggage making it etc..

IF you are the first ones off the ship (by 7:30) and everything else goes exactly right, you can make a 10 am flight, but it is cutting it VERY close and I personally would not attempt it. It takes quite awhile to go through the Vancouver airport.

If possible, suggest you stay over a day when you debark. Vancouver is a really interesting city to visit. You can have a nice, relaxing day to explore then get up early the next morning to make a 10:00 flight with no stress. We did it this way this past May and it worked out great.

Considering all the hassles and costs if you don't make it, I think it's smarter to take a later flight. If the next flight isn't until late afternoon, take a post-cruise excursion with a transfer to the airport at the end.

That is a very wise decision.

Enjoy your day in Vancouver and fly home the next day without stress.

Excellent advice. We always stay a day or two post cruise and avoid hustle and bustle of the airport and having to rush there.

Your post doesn't indicate if you are pressed for time to get home but........

Not only would I not try taking a 10:00 a.m. flight out of Vancouver, I wouldn't even consider doing it the same day!! Vancouver is a beautiful city with a whole lot to do. We always try to spend a couple of days there before and after a cruise.:)

This is a general disembark comment and not one specifically to the OP. Unless there are major financial hits or there is a need to absolutely get back by a specific time, I can never understand this need to get the first flight of the day out.

I prefer to take later flights. There is no rush to get off the ship and no anxiety that you will not get a taxi to the airport in time. Also no anxiety if the van to the airport is a bit late.

I have time to get some coffee at the airport. I always have my Nook and my computer so I can sit around, read, surf the net or work on my pictures. The last time I flew, I got into Anchorage airport about 2:00 in the afternoon and the next leg of my flight left for home at about 10:00 at night. It was a relaxing end to the trip.

Beats the worry and the "will I make it" high blood pressure.

If you're going from the waterfront to the airport, and you're able to hoof it for a couple blocks, don't wait for a taxi.

Head out of the terminal, up the ramp to street level. Turn left and follow the sidewalk. You'll see a stairway/escalator down below street level marked "Skytrain". Follow it down, purchase a 2 zone ticket and proceed through the platform. The platform will say King George/VCC Clark, and that is the train you do not want to take. Keep going across the platform to the other side where there'll be an escalator and set of stairs up.

Once you get to the top, you'll be at a T-junction. Turning left will take you on the Sea Bus across the water. Turn Right and you will be in a hall where there's a Subway restaurant, A&W, newsstand, etc. You will see on the right a staircase/elevator down. Take that to the bottom and follow the corridor.

The skytrain at the bottom goes to two locations. Richmond Brighouse and YVR Airport. You can take either one but if you are on the Richmond Brighouse train, you will have to switch trains at Bridgeport station (River rock casino).

It will take you right to the airport for a fraction of the cost. It will take about half an hour or so, and no waiting in line for a taxi.

None of us care for Air Canada and their arrogant attitude. You have plenty of time to check for reasonable hotel close to airport with comp shuttle.

Flew AC last May, LAX-Montreal-Halifax without any such issues. After requesting from the F/A, Captain was nice enough to announce the final score of the Phoenix-L.A. hockey game over the P/A system

Maybe yes...or Maybe No! So what kind of gambler are you? And what is the price if you miss your flight? Folks ask this kind of question all the time. I think its one of those questions that if you have to ask it...your flight is too early.
