While waiting for your cabin to be come available can you go to the CL and wait for your cabin to be ready ?

 

No. The Concierge Lounge typically does not open until 5:00pm and is usually only open until 8:00pm. There are other days when it is open around noon time but not on the day of departure.

Missed this thread when is started- we, too, just did our first GS on the Adventure, back over Thanksgiving.

 

+ a third time for ordering off of the main menu- we had a great dinner in our room while in Curasao- it was Thanksgiving, it was great since we are in port for an extended time. Open all the curtains, and it's all there.

On the day of Departure the Concierge Lounge (for us on Brilliance) opened up at 5:00pm. And was open until 8:00pm. These times stayed the same throughout the entire cruise.

 

I do believe there were other days the lounge was open from like 11:00am until 2:00pm but don't quote me on those hours as I do not know for sure.

 

But in short, the Concierge Lounge is only open for a few hours each day of the cruise. It's not like a typical bar that is opened at 11:00am and doesn't close until the wee hours of the morning.

That is correct.

 

FWIW, the coffee is fresh ground, and the milk is real. It may be a machine, but it does use real ingredients.

 

The tea, well, it's not good English tea. Bags, IIRC. Not bad, but not what I was introduced to....

You can get into the lounge at anytime, and use the self-serve specialty coffee machine. The concierge is only in the lounge during certain time blocks. The food and drinks are only available during certain time blocks.

I noticed in the GS description on Royal's website that there is a stereo in the room. Does anyone know if you can hook up an ipod to the stereo?

LBIgirl74 - Our GS on the Allure had an IPod dock. I'm guessing the same is true on the Oasis. I'm bringing mine on our trip in November.

You all are making me excited for our first GS next year on Quantum. :D

 

The Quantum renderings don't show full lounge chairs on the balcony; they show regular chairs plus ottomans. I know Quantum is new and so an unknown quantity at this point, but for those of you who have been in GSes on other ships, do you usually get full loungers, or are they regular chairs. If regular chairs, will the stateroom attendant and/or concierge get you loungers if you ask for them? Would there be room (even if a little squishy on the balcony)?

 

We are on the waiting list for a "superior grand suite," which has a double size balcony (so hopefully can accomodate loungers), but there are only 6 or 8 on the whole ship, so getting one is pretty doubtful.

To stay OT, I'll try to address a PP's concerns :) - you're not supposed to leave the concierge lounge with drinks or snacks from there, but the lounge has plenty of small tables where your party can eat/drink together and not be interruped. We were in there quite often on our Allure cruise last month (stayed in a CLS) and never had to share a table. I thought we would miss eating on our balcony, but we would just bring snacks or drinks out there from the promenade cafe, or room service, or viking crown lounge, so it ended up being great. The only downfall to suites is getting addicted (and therefore my upgrade last week from a balcony to a GS on quantum.... :rolleyes: ).

It varies by ship and concierge. You will generally get the lowest luggage tag numbers, so are among the very first to leave the ship. Sometimes the concierge will personally lead the suite guests off the ship. However, once you are off the ship you may be in a customs line that the ship has little control over.

Sorry, misread your question. I cannot recall any special treatment for suite guests at the ports. At one time, there was priority tendering, but I'm not sure if that is offered anymore.

It may vary by ship but the three different ships we have been on were open on embarkation day. IOS was in Chops.

We were able to hook ours up in the full suites we've been in. You need an RCA cable (I think that's what it's called), not a USB, unless they've updated the equipment. As for OA/AL, I know that at least down to the balcony cabins they have iPod docks in every cabin. Not sure about OV or insides.

On Liberty, (RFS) we were escorted by the Concierge to the tender on port days. Concierge also escorts us off the ship when leaving.

Will have our first OS on Vision in May. Would like to know if there is a DVD in cabin and does CL have DVD's for loan? If so, A large selection?

Upgraded from a JS to GS for our cruise in 55 days! After reading all this I can't wait for this cruise! Our first GS.

On the Freedom and Voyager Class ships we had full loungers. On the Oasis Class we had the chairs with the ottoman but the chairs recline so we never asked for the full loungers. I liked them better than full loungers.
