OCD Planner's NAVIGATOR Post Dry Dock Pictorial Review

Our last cruise was last fall on Celebrity Solstice, and we had to get tender tickets (and we were Elite status and in Concierge Class). I don't recall ever having to acquire tender tickets on Royal. I hope that is NOT the case; and I don't think it will be.

Tendered a year ago on Navigator with a RCCI-sponsored excursion. Suite status. No ticket issued or required.

I have never had to get a ticket to tender, have just went to where the line is and waited my turn. Been a few years since I have cruised though, is this fleet wide? How did you know to go to the lounge for tickets, was it in the Cruise Compass? Thank you so much for this info!

We are just back from 2 weeks on Navigator. It has been our experience that tender tickets vary from ship to ship, and even from port to port. We needed tender tickets for the tender ports -- Grand Cayman and Belize. It is announced in the Cruise Compass and several times over the PA. There is sufficient notification on where the tickets are handed out -- on our sailing, the Star Lounge at the forward end of the Royal Promenade.

The Suite and Diamond Concierges periodically escorted guests down from the lounges.

Did you happen to notice if they had the free style coke machines? Thank you

Just got off the NOS this morning. One of my comments to RCCL was about GC tendering tickets/line. Our arrival at GC was 7am, ticket distribution was to begin at 7am outside Royal Promenade. We got there about 650 and there were maybe a dozen folks ahead of us .About 7:10 a crew member asked if anyone was ready to go (had all their stuff, ready to get off the ship) and if so, follow him. We did, got in the tender and off we went. Took about 10 minutes. So I know this really does not address your question as I do not know what happened after we left.

I've tendered many times with Royal Caribbean, the latest was on NOS just last month. I've never seen "tendering tickets" and it has always gone fairly smoothly for me.

What are the production shows/entertainment on NAvigator?

On my Dec. 1, 2013, Navigator, the productions shows and even the ship's 9-piece orchestra were not as good as the Voyager or Mariner. However, the ice show was the best I have seen.

I remember some one on here had asked if they had changed out all the mattresses. Sorry, I forgot to report, asked the Hotel Director on our 2/16 cruise and he said no, they did not change out all the mattresses.

Also on tendering - we tendered into Grand Cayman on our 2/16 cruise and they did use tender tickets. If you have an RCCL excursion than you meet in the Star Lounge and they will take you to the tenders. If you didn't have an RCCL excursion, you needed a tender ticket. I also don't know how well this worked because the Concierge escorted us to the tender boats.

This is what was in the Compass - Tendering Today

Tender boat tickets are required today. When you are ready to go ashore, please make your way to the Royal Promenade, deck 5 (by Café Promenade) to pick up your tender ticket. You may pick up tickets for your entire family or group if you wish. Announcements for tender ticket numbers will be made in all public venues. Once your tender ticket number has been called, you can proceed to the tender boat loading platform located on Deck 2 aft (using the staircases and elevators near the dining rooms). Anyone requiring assistance to go ashore (mobility, etc.), please use the forward gangway (use the elevators forward, outside the theater). Peak times to go ashore are between 8:00 am and 10:00 am. It will take longer to get ashore during that time. If you are on a Tour or Shore Excursion that meets on the pier, please allow yourself 45 minutes to get ashore. Tender boats will run approximately every 20 minutes throughout the day.

And the same was true the following week for Belize. :)

Are nice jeans and top acceptable in MDR on embarkation day? Or should I change into something a little nicer?

Sorry, I knew there was a 6 night buried in the schedule but didn't click for your post. Anyway, if you check with the Group Coordinator at Guest Services when you board she will tell you which places are booked. Enjoy :)

Went to the M&M on our cruise. I thought ya'll were going to be on the March 2 sailing and i saw a lady 2 times on the cruise and thought she was you. She even knew who you were; i didn't catch her name, but thought it was funny she knew you. We had a great first cruise and are planning another; will probably be next year some time as work doesn't allow us much spare time.

There was an adults comedy late show and then the "Texas Tenors" performed, the ice dancers, and another comedian act. Those were the ones we attended and they were pretty good. There was a circus parade in the Promenade area and we celebrated Mardi Gras and there were dances on the pool deck. We never made it to the night club, my DH felt we were too old for that - LOL; mainly too much excitement during the day and we were asleep before midnight.

We got our tender tickets and didn't have to wait long to get off the ship; but we waited in GC until the first rush was over since we didn't have any excursions planned. First cruise March 2 and loved the entire trip; beautiful weather and wonderful staff.

And for the most part, they weren't stopping anyone from going into the MDR with whatever they were wearing even on formal nights; was a little disappointing to have people in flowery shirts and t-shirts on formal night in the MDR. But it is what it is.

I will be going on a future cruise on this ship and was just wondering if anyone can tell me about the diamond lounge. What are the hours? What specific free wines are there to choose from? And what types of food?

Thank You

On our transatlantic on the Mariner of the Seas (sister ship, same layout) we could go into the lounge any time. (your Sea Pass card is programmed to unlock the door for entry). They have hours where the Concierge is on duty to help with any tickets or reservations that you might need. In the mornings they have continental breakfast out in a small buffet serving area. They had a separate area in the Main Dining Room for Diamond for a full breakfast. There is a self serve cappuccino machine in the lounge for complimentary latte, cappuccino, etc. The evening event has hot and cold appetizers in the buffet area and complimentary drinks are served by the waiters. There were so many Diamond and Diamond + members on our TA that they set up the whole event in the Viking Crown Lounge, which is just outside the locked entry door to the Diamond Lounge. During non-eating event times there were usually only 4 or 5 others in the lounge either quietly visiting, reading, and relaxing. The view is wonderful from in there and the couches and wing chairs very comfortable. We took the iPad with downloaded movies on it and a headphone splitter and watched a movie every once in a while in there (on the TA we had 6 days at sea on the crossing, so we hung out a lot in the Diamond Lounge). The Diamond Lounge on the Allure of the Seas was set up completely different and people went in mainly during light breakfast and appetizer time. It was an interior location overlooking the promenade so we didn't visit in there as much. It was a great viewing area for any parades help in the promenade area though. Are you new Diamond members?

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes, we are new diamond members. I understand that the evening event is specifically free wine. If this is true do they have various choices of red wine?

I'm not sure what you mean by "specifically free wine". We ordered by the varietal we preferred i.e. merlot, cabernet, chardonnay, pinot gris, etc. When we want a better selection (say at dinner) we'll order the wine package for the week or charge directly from the bar. I think it's the same situation with the cocktails ordered...if you want top shelf there is a small charge.

Just off the Navigator, Sun. (the oil spill extended cruise). The Diamond lounge is open from 4:30-8:00 for nightly cocktail event. DC is Nadja and she is absolutely fabulous. There is no longer a special breakfast dining area for D, D+ and P members.

For those of you who know Ricardo, CL, he was taken off the ship 3/16 and admitted to hospital with potential heart problems. After testing, no problems found and he was to be back on ship this week.
