Hello,

We are going on the California Coastal Cruise in October this year and was wondering if anyone has done this cruise. If there is anyone that has suggestions to this cruise,we would like to hear about it and how you liked it or not liked it. Any further information as to what to do and see would be very highly appreciated. It's a 7 day cruise to San Franciso, Santa Barbra,SanDiego, and Encinada.

We are going in Sept.

This is the one going to SF, right ?

We took a shorter one to Santa Barbara last Oct.

For us, the ship is important, as I have to rest a lot. Our upcoming one in Sept. is on the Crown, which we have not sailed yet. I really don't think one can go wrong on ANY PCL ship.

As far as the ports, I expect to be chilly. I'm always cold anyway, so I am bringing a sweater to wear in port.

In Santa Barbara, we have taken the trolley tour, which was nice for an overview of the city. It was short enough that there would be time to do something else if you choose. This time I think we will go to the museum on our own. We saw it when we took the trolley tour, but it wasn't part of the tour so we couldn't go in.

I know some of our group took the wine country tours. We live in SD, so we have been to those places.

In SF we are planning to visit the Calif. Academy of Sciences. It isn't a ship tour, but easily done on public transportation.

We would love to go to Alcatraz, but we both have walking issues, so it would be too much for us.

In SD, we are planning to meet our DS and DIL for lunch. We live there so we aren't planning any tours. Our friends, who do not live in SD are planning a ship tour to the SD Zoo.

In Ensenada, we probably won't do a ship tour either. In the past, we have taken the ship tour of the 2 wineries. It's a very nice excursion.

Hopefully, this has been some help to you. :)

I would not rule out Alcatraz. I have walking issues and was able to do it. They have special boarding for you, just tell the guy who takes your ticket. You will not have to stand in line. Once you get to the island, there is a tram for people like us that takes you up to the main building. The tour is self guided and there are plenty of benches to sit on and rest when you need it. I am so glad I researched it beforehand and took the tour!

This is not going to be a warm weather cruise so pool time may be limited. You may or may not be rough seas on the way to SF.

We did have great weather though in SF and SB in April.

In Santa Barbara, I would recommend winery tours.
