First cruise and I won't be back

I'm a lurker, I usually just read and never comment, but this one needs a reply. I think you are getting Disney confused with Universal. Universal Studios offers this perk for their Hotel guest, not Disney, Disney has Fast Fast.

 

You are correct.

 

The only thing that WDW offers other than Fast Pass is early entry one hour before the park opens if you stay at their hotel. (Of course WDW assigns what park will have the early entry)

I am very interested in charges of which I may not be aware. We are leaving in less than a month and I have received no information, pamplets, or booklets as of yet.

And in defense of Wasted Time, when you are using a travel agent, you should expect to be informed by that agent. All the information that I have found so far has come from this site and on line research. None has come from Carnival or the travel agent. At this point I have had no infromation provided on anything, including additional costs, S&S cards(which I read about here), automatically being charged for tips, location of the dock,or anything.

 

When I booked my cruise with my PVP, I did a shocking thing.

 

I asked him if he could tell me, since this was my first Carnival cruise, about how much two people could expect to spend over and above our cruise-only cost.

 

Amazingly, he outlined for me the charges if we needed airport transfers (at the time we were going to fly and book our own air, but now we're just driving to port), tipping charges, the soda card cost, the alcoholic beverage cost, the fact that you should tip for room service if you get it, that some spa facilities were included but massages and beauty treatments aren't, the corking fee if we choose to bring aboard our own wine, informed me that I should start thinking about excursions so I could (1) get the one I want and (2) figure out the cost since those are extra but he didn't have access to the excursion costs, pointed out that if I wanted to send a bon voyage gift to the room it would be extra (and told me how to find the gifts section of the website), broke down our cruise cost from our taxes, and our port fees, so we knew what money was going where, and told me I could call him if I had any other questions.

I find that hard to believe and this really shows your level in intellegence. A ship is built with some many berths (beds). They don't add any to overbook and I've yet to see anyone sleeping on the floor in rooms or the hallways. They have fire code laws to abide by and they do it since they are constantly inspected for such infractions. Even when a ship fills every pull downand fold out bed it is not "overbooked". In fact I know all ships keep a certain number of rooms empty for emergencies like plumbing problems they can't fix right away or no A/C etc. A ship is never completely full.

I think others are right in that this thread will be pulled soon. That's why I go ahead and print a copy off to keep. These type posts make excellent reading at cruise parties. You seldom see this type of negative behavior here.

Oh and the part about he won't be back! Trust he , he will continue to read the post about him because who wants to be talked about behind their back when they know they can listen in and not be discovered! WastedTime..... thanks for wasting my time! Glad you won't be on any of my next ones.

If the OP is, as he states, willing to spend $8,000.00 next time instead of $4,000.00 just so he doesn't have to take an evil cruise again, I'd imagine he didn't ask anything about the extra costs because money doesn't appear to be an object for him.

 

Me? I'm on a budget, and goshdarnit I'm going to find every way I can to get the most out of my vacation.

 

Interestingly... and I'd like to point this out...

 

... that's why we're taking a cruise. We get more bang for our buck.

 

For people who just want to throw money at a problem or a headache so they don't have to "deal with it," I'd imagine any vacation that involves a modicum of thinking probably isn't their kind of thing.

I'm sorry, but how old are you??? You have blamed everyone else but yourself! (Including your sister-in-law!) Did you even ask any questions prior to the cruise. Most people want to know how much extra money they should bring with them. I've only been on 1 cruise so far, but I researched it to death. Had no hidden surprises and had a blast. I printed out advice from people and asked hundreds of questions. Why didn't you ask your sister-in-law some questions or your travel agent, before you went. Talk about going in blind. Look in the mirror dear. Sounds like you went with an attitude and were looking for faults.

taking random antibiotics causes viruses to mutate making everyone more likely to not kick whatever bug you had because you were probably not taking the right dose or length of dose to kick what you had.

Taking random antibiotics does not cause viruses to mutate. This practice does, however, contribute to the serious problem of antibiotic resistant bacterial organisms, and you are right to point out the folly of taking antibiotics prescribed for a former diagnosed bacterial infection for an illness of unknown cause at a later date. This is basically playing doctor, which is among other things, potentially harmful. I can't imagine taking old antibiotics for something if I "had no idea what I had contracted."

 

As much as people hate paying for the physician's services aboard ship, if a passenger feels this ill, a visit to a licensed physician is in order. If after visiting said doctor, the patient feels no confidence in his competence, the patient is not required to follow his advice. But self prescription of antibiotics is not the answer. Just MHO.

She said it was her sister-in-laws 6th cruise.

 

I would think they would discuss the cruise before boarding.

 

I dont see why she is "so shocked" at the extras charged. All of them are things that are charged regardless of what vacation you choose.

My thoughts exactly. My question also was why she didn't finish taking all of them in the first place. Not taking all of the prescribed antibiotics can also lead to the development of antibiotic resistant bacteria.

Let me please jump in here.

 

I go to Disney World--a lot (>20 times in the last 6 yrs and I live >800 miles away). I love Disney World.

 

But, the bottle of water in my suite (a bottle without a price tag or anything on it--just sitting on the wet bar) was 6.50.

On my last trip, in June, I waited in lines for just about every ride---even on EMH nights. I waited to eat at places where I had made priority seatings. I waited for buses and I waited for boats. I waited to see shows. I waited a lot.

 

And what is this???

Disney has nothing like that. Disney has fast pass--you get a pass and WAIT for your time to return. Then, you WAIT in the fast pass line.

Looks like you are complaining to the wrong entity. It's your travel agent you should be complaining to. I didn't read the entire thread, but I'm surprised that no one picked up on this statement in the posts I read.

Wasted, I think that you are ACTING very spoiled and stuck up. I am not saying that you are spoiled and stuck up but the review that you posted comes off that way.

Half of the "additional expenses" that you complained about are expense that are obvious and are explained to you in the literature that the cruise line sends you and the literature that your TA gives you. YOu say that you read all of the fine print on the packets but you must of skipped over the rest of it because it is always obviously stated that drinks are not included on a cruise as well as babysitting, video, games, casinos, and the bottle water that has a tag on it that states the price.

Most people I meet on the boards I end up cruising with and become very good friends of mine. I have yet to find one working for the cruise line.........unless they are UNDERCOVER:D
