Sorrento question

We will soon be visiting Sorrento and are familiar with the town. We plan to tender in and take a taxi up the hill.

Question: have taxis been available at the dock for this short ride or are they just interested (which we are not) in taking passengers for a tour of the area.?

They will be happy to take you up the hill. Last time we used them to go down the hill, we paid 15 Euros for the privilege. Apparently, Sorrento has a great taxi union!

Usually there is a shuttle bus service run by Sorrento itself from just to the right of the pier to uptown, either for free or perhaps one Euro per person.

We took the shuttle to the town center but it was a mad rush to get it. There also is an elevator,

for a nominal fee to get up, located a short distance to the right of the parking lot.

No problem, we used taxi's both ways. They were OK with the short trip. And really it was better than the bus "O" had at the dock. Plus you can go at your time, no waiting---unless no taxi's are around. But that would be a short wait.

There is the town shuttle for 1 eu each way which runs continuously. Another option is the elevator for 1 eu also. To get to the elevator, with the sea in front of you, turn left, walk past the restaurants and beach clubs - about a 4 to 5 minute easy stroll. You will see he sign and the entrance to the elevator on your left. It lets you off in a small park which has a beautiful cloistered area in the church on your left. Witnessed a local wedding there this past September.

Several years ago someone started a thread for all the shuttles. I just moved it to the top of the Oceania info page. You might find it helpful.
