Rare ghstudio Posted April 22, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2014 yes...common in Europe...just be sure you are using a bank machine and not one of the "helpful" money changer company machines.
Rare hcat Posted April 22, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2014 We checked it out ahead of time and used ones that worked easily with our bank card....they are plentiful and easy to access even while on most excursions...but we did bring some euros with us... Lsimon Posted April 22, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 22, 2014 Are there ATMs at all the Mediterranean ports, preferably bank ATMs? It depends on what you mean by "ports". I've never seen these right at the port itself (with a few rare exceptions) but always have seen them in the city center we headed to. I have seen ATM's in the Med that give you a choice of Dollars or Euros. Richard Are you talking about ATM's that dispense dollars or ATM's that process the charge as dollars? I've never seen ATM's that dispense dollars in Europe but I have seen ATM's where you could choose if your charge went through in Euros or Dollars. The latter seem to have a less favorable exchange rate than what the normal clearing network exchanges the money at so I would recommend choosing the charge to be processed in the local currency.
