What is the best way to keep in touch on the ship? We use a set of walkie talkies from Radio Shack...work great. Enjoy your cruise:D
Stateroom_Sailor Posted April 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2014 If everyone agrees to stay outside and be on the lookout, smoke signals is the way to go. ;)
sailinglisa Posted April 25, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 25, 2014 Walkie talkies may not work that well on the ship, depending on where one of the parties is, the steel infrastructure can and will interfere with reception. All the cabins have phones with voice mail on them.....you can arrange meet up times where everyone will show up......you can leave post it note messages on your friends doors. You can coordinate schedules at breakfast or in the mornings.
jelayne Posted April 25, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 25, 2014 Ever had someone in the hall outside your cabin at 7:30am screaming into a Walkie talkie- "Mary where are you?"
Rare ghstudio Posted April 25, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) Wilkie talkies are often very annoying on cruise ships...just as bad as cellphones in restaurants. The ship isn't really that large...and it's not all that hard to know where others are and arrange meeting times. Remember every time that radio beeps, everyone around you hears it...and they also hear everything you say in your normal voice into the microphone. Think of the comfort of those around you before you arm your family with noisemakers. Just for the record, I am a techie with almost every gadget and yes, we have family radios that we use at antique shows...but we would never use them on a relaxing cruise ship. CruisingGatorGirl Posted April 25, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 25, 2014 Things we did: Set up designated meeting time/place Write notes and place them in the room number spot by the door Use the phones all over ship to leave messages We found (on a longer cruise) everyone kinda finds their "spot" they like. If we were looking for someone we typically new where to start. Or you might run into one family member who will say X person is in Y place. I was worried about communication at first. On a 12 night cruise, we only had one miscommunication error :)
FRMPEI Posted April 25, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 25, 2014 We are traveling with 10 family members on the Millennium (grandparents, parents, and children). What is the best way to keep in touch on the ship? When we were travelling with 7 we all were Aft deck 10. We would use the Library as a general meet up spot. ie: dinner... Lets meet back at the Library at 7:00PM. Worked real good for us. FYI I did have two FRS radio with me that cruise and didn't even turn them on.
