luxlady Posted May 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2004 Can anyone recommend a hotel for a pre-cruise stay? It doesn't have to be that fancy for a one or two night stay - no Hyatt REgency, but something nice, clean and with good service. Thanks! jms Posted May 11, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2004 Try the Renaissance downtown. You'll be in the shopping district and have boat access to a private island. There's also a casino in the lobby. Go to: marriott.com to check rates. You want the "marina" tower not the "beach" tower as it's closer to the action. If you want Palm Beach then try the Radisson which is more expensive but not quite as much as the Hyatt.
babylene Posted May 13, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 13, 2004 If you want to be on Palm Beach, the best bargain is the Holiday Inn. The Radisson is my favourite, but very expensive.
cmjaffe Posted May 16, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 16, 2004 Wyndam is also very nice and sometimes offers specials. Stayed at the Rennaisance (was called Sonesta then) and it was OK.. was noisy and no beach ... had to take a boat ride to their beach, which was in the pathway of incoming flights. Both it and the Best Western Manchebo Beach are fairly inexpensive but are they dumpy or decent? babylene Posted May 18, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Many years ago, on two different occasions, we spent a night at the Holiday Inn. The first time our room was not nice, the second time it was fine. They probably have renovated since then. You can ask. The beach is very nice and it is right next to the Playa Linda, a timeshare. If you go to the Playa Linda website, you may even find someone willing to rent their appartment at the time you need it.We spent many vacations there with our children and it was great. I wouldn't choose the Manchebo Beach. Actually, I have never seen it, but we always liked Palm Beach and I think it is a better area. Hope you enjoy! babylene Posted May 18, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 18, 2004 P.S. Go to hotels. Someone said that the Holiday Inn was totally renovated in 2002.
