La Romana for the day, Help.

Our ship (Carnival Freedom) will be docking in La Romana on May 28, 2014. Can anyone recommend any excursions?

You will find a ton of recommendations in the Dominican Republic forum. We enjoyed the Saona Island excursion with Seavis Tours in Bayahibe - excellent outfit, and their schedule is based on the ship schedule and the taxi is part of the package so no worries.

We just returned from 2 weeks at Dreams La Romana which is a 10 minute walk from Bayahibe (a small fishing village). Many ppl go there gor a day pass but we would recommend seeing the natural beauty of the area with Seavis or Pro Excursions, check their sites for excursions to Saona Island,Catalina Island, or the Chavon River tour.

Last year we did the Seavis tour and had a great time. This year we did the day pass to Dream resort and loved it. Beautiful property.

Stay away from the "choo choo train" trip into town. Overpriced and they do nothing more than take you to the town square.....drop you off where you must fend for yourself against the locals.....all of them selling the same tourist junk. At least the train makes a pickup every hour so you can get back to the ship!

Take the trip to Saona.
