I don't see prices of fuel or food coming down all that much, do you? How do you view the future? You need to find a different store. The price of food has not gone up 3-400%. I can only compare with Celebrity and IMHO there was no comparison, from the grubby grey thin bath towels to the tasteless food in the MDR, this cruise was like Butlins at sea. The food in the Windjammer was worse than what I remember when I had School dinners. There were crawling insects on our balcony, our cabin carpet Had to be shampooed due to sticky marks all over it. A kettle appeared one Week into the cruise. The MD food was not cooked professionally, meat And pastry uncooked, vegetables warm and raw, I lived on soup and the Cheese board for two weeks, we had 2 decent meals, the Indian lunch with a Charge and Gioviannis again with a charge. The Maître D had a special meal Cooked for me, pasta with carbonara sauce with "over cooked vegetables" Again dried out rubbery pasta, and hard vegetables. We were not the Only ones with these views of the food, many others we spoke to felt the same, In fact we were 2 of sixty people offered a free tour of the back room kitchens. The casino was a meeting place for smokers who gathered around an ashtray 6 people deep, sitting on slot machines or the steps of the casino, this Caused a fog of smoke and was not pleasant for anyone wishing to play Table games. This ship gives the impression of being tired and old,Park Cafe was a joke, I wouldn't feed the rolls,cake or pizza which was dried out and hard To anyone. I know a lot of people love this ship but I think it is passed It's sell by date. Adventure doesn't have a Park Café, or she didn't on May 4th when we disembarked from the TA. The dining room food was excellent and the Windjammer a huge disappointment - along with the hours it is open - or more specifically not open. I agree, I was on the same sailing and a few of us were thinking the same thing. Same with cafe promenade, the exact same sandwiches and snacks everyday. The Adventure does an Indian demonstration in Giovannis at one lunch time by one of the fantastic Indian chefs onboard. Embarkation day I had some nice green bean mixed vegetable and corn on the cob and never saw it again. Both were decent. I had some chicken, but not honey stung. The desserts for the most part were horrible. The food in MDR for dinner was fine. I must have to say the classic chicken dish was excellent. Cooked just right simple but really tasty. The people were working hard, but a lot of uncleared and clean tables. I also had room service on BOS, really the food wasn't all that hot, nor really all that great. It was overcooked and dry. fluffysue Posted May 31, 2014 #33 Share Posted May 31, 2014 I've only had a couple of breakfasts and lunches there, it is always so hectic that I only go a couple of times to enjoy the nice ocean views, but finding a table is just insane, it hardly seemed worth it. lol They were very good on Grandeur about cleaning the tables, though...I once grabbed a table as someone was getting up, even though the table was still dirty, sat down to wait for my friend who'd gone to the buffet, and a second later there were two people cleaning it...was surprised they even realized I hadn't been there all along. :D Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Maybe we got lucky, but the food we chose was well cooked, not dry or hard, and we ate there often. Staff were always replenishing the food trays. Our tables were always cleared quickly too. Sometimes we had to wait for waiter service for drinks, and I agree the desserts were very repetitive. We sailed Brilliance a couple of years ago and our impression then of Windjammer was very similar to this one on Adventure. I guess having not experienced it in years before that we cannot comment on how it used to be, but for us (and we do enjoy good food) we were not disappointed. Food and service in the main dining room was very good too. we were also on the same cruise and I have to agree with you. I had something different everyday and it was all quite tasty. As far as the waiter service? Again there was always a drink on the table by the time I got back with my food. maybe we were lucky or just the keen look on my husbands face :D Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Possibly because the ship was sailing from Southampton with primarily British guests, they had two different curries on every night in the MDR. Me thinks they are starting to get wise to all the off-menu MDR requests for aromatic and spicy Indian food. The chefs on board seem eager to make specialty dishes that highlight their skills and ethnicity. I will have to keep eyes on the Compass; $10 is a relative bargain as far as specialty dining goes. American Bear Posted May 31, 2014 #39 Share Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) Hate to say this here, because several have posted they like Indian food, but we hate Indian Food!:eek: Never understood Indian food in the Caribbean!:eek: Remember the old Monarch one night, it seemed like all they had was Indian,,yuk!:p Dinner in the WJ on most ships has suffered, as has the Promenade(in those ships) in our subjective opinions! We were told one night on the Allure at 845pm to choose our desert because they were beginning to take them away! We came to the conclusion that for dinner it had to be the MDR or a specialty restaurant! We still like the breakfasts and lunches though!:) Our favorite restaurant was the Allure's Samba, oh the meat, so much, and so good, we could barely walk back to our cabin!:D As far as the cleanliness of the buffets, we have felt the crew has always done a very good job! On the Radiance last week the changes were very obvious. They were neither good or bad, just different. For lunch there were less choices of prepared foods, but most choices were different everyday. I noticed a larger emphasis on build your own. Salads, fruits, sandwiches and burgers. Since Rita's Crab-shack took over a small section of Windjammers food area the usual fish and chip area (and similar) was gone. It did seem to me Park Cafe was THE PLACE to get a salad. Breakfast was pretty much the same as it has always been. I did notice they had no small plates to rest the serving utensils so they had to be put into the hot platters. Using these utensils for hot foods was an unpleasant PAINFUL experience. The tongs for bacon were so hot I thought I was going to burn my hand. I was on the Brilliance for my first cruise in December. I loved it but have to agree with you on the WJ The only thing I could eat in there was potatoes and corn. The catered to my family's different eating styles:) you can get anything including tasty hummus I had in Portofino the night before! I just asked and they got it!! The lunch selection seemed to be lacking variety. We found the Park Cafe to be much better, however it is in an awkward location (solarium) and we found ourselves standing at a counter to eat our breakfast or lunch. We also ate at Rita's Cantina one day prior to the crab conversion. Not the full Rita's menu we enjoyed on Allure but it was good. To date - the food and service in Windjammer was the best we've experienced since cruising in 2009. In fact, it was noticeably improved from our cruise last year, and even one of our friends on the cruise with a restricted diet stated he was "pleasantly surprised" at all the food choices and the quality as well. Because of young children in the group, we ate in the Windjammer both at lunch and in the evening. The food was fabulous! Tables were spotless. The minute we put a plate down, it was snatched by a waiter. The Seafood Gumbo was the best I've ever had. At noon it was crowded and we wished that they used the same system as on the Oasis (being seated by an attendant) but, other than that, we were impressed. we were seated by an attendant on Enchantment back in February, it worked well Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I did notice that Pans are used for everything on the ship....small portions so the pans will rotate more often. Is that the same on all ships or is it the way the WJ will be going so food does not dry out. We ate at 3 of the 4 Specialty restaurants also and all were Very Good, Sabor is the Do Not Miss Venue. Most cruise lines are cutting back and adding pay for use items. We now live in a Wal mart world. Everyone wants a bargain and even passengers are like Wal mart shoppers.
