Breaking up longer cruises

Recommended Posts

First disclaimer: I've never sailed on HAL. I generally choose the cruise based on itinerary, although I've decided that some unnamed ships I don't wish to sail on. That said, I noticed HAL has some great southeast asia cruises for October 2005 (I like booking 16-18 months in advance) However, the length of the cruises are 30, 32 or 62 days. Not many working folks can take that much time off--at least in one fell swoop. Does HAL ever break up those cruises. For example, on one 32 day cruise, the last 16 days (Beijing to Singepore) would be fabulous for us.

Thanks for your assistance

Yes. SOME of the longer cruises can be booked as "segments".... including the yearly World Cruise. The WC is in the range of about 108 days but there are segments for as little as 16 or so days.

If you are looking at a brochure, you will notice some ports throughout the itinerary are written in bold type. That customarily means it is an embarkation/disembarkation port.

Inquire about any specific cruises that interest you.

Nearly all of the longer cruises can be taken in segments. We have done several 21 day cruises from one coast to the other. People were getting off and on at various ports. Just on our last 1 day cruise from Ft Lauderdale to Montreal we had people getting on in Jacksonville, Charleston, and Boston.

So if there is a particular segment you like, ask your TA for details.
