Anchorage Grand vs. The Captain Cook

Would like to see some comparisons between these two hotels.

Have stayed at The Captain Cook, but it has been a few years.

Arrival at 230pm (air) and departing the next day (very early am) on the train.

4-7 rooms.

How realistic is it that if we stay at the Anchorage Grand, that we won't need to hire transportation to get to the train station?

Looks like rooms will be 30.00 per night more @ The Anchorage Grand.

Years ago, my folks used to have an apartment in what is now called the Anchorage Grand. Haven't been inside since they converted it to a hotel. But the rooms have to be pretty large from a hotel perspective. The Cook is one of the finer hotels in Anchorage, as you are probably aware since you stayed there before.

True that the Grand is on the 2nd Avenue bluff just above the railroad yards and the depot. If you don't have much in the way of luggage, then it is a relatively easy hike down to the train, then too, if not much luggage, it isn't all that big a deal to walk from the Cook to the depot either.

You might check, the Cook may have a free shuttle down there.

Anyway, for that short of a stay and the extra expense, couple of hundred if you get seven rooms, I really can't see the advantage in having all the additional space. If me, I would stay at the Cook.
