Chesterh,

it was sad to read your post. It is a reminder to myself to value and appreciate all the experiences of life.

It is equally a lesson to not sweat the "small stuff" and to remember it is almost all small stuff.

Thank you for this reminder and hope you continue to enjoy whatever good comes your way

and abide the rest.

A few years ago I got Noro and was confined to quarters for 4 days.

Luckily, I had a copy of "What Time is the Midnight Buffet?" which I read in spurts ;). I am sure you will feel honored to know you will always be associated with those symptoms

Thank you for the significant contribution you have made to many cruisers' enjoyment of our wonderful obsession.

God Bless You

Bob and Phyl

Chesterh, I don't know if we have ever met in person, but it is possible given that our very first cruise was on the Galaxy out of Baltimore in March 2002, which was followed by many more cruises on the Galaxy, including the 1st sailing from Baltimore and the final sailing from San Juan before the transfer to TUI, and most other Celebrity ships. Learning yesterday of your "When is the Midnight Buffet" book and that our beloved Galaxy is featured in it, I just purchased the Kindle version for my iPad; my dh immediately downloaded it to his iPad as well and is reading it right at this very moment. Within a few minutes, he said, "You're going to really like this book. It is very amusing" adding that he "can't put it down." My husband has been sharing parts of it as he reads and just reported from the book that you "are heading to the casino." Oh, now you are onto chilled pear and honey soup, prime rib, and chocolate mousse toffee cake with ice cream while Kris has rum raisin ice cream. Now you are heading off to the t-pool, which you call a "great invention." Then the invitation to the Captain's table arrives, escargot "melting in" your mouth while dining at the Captain's table, and deciding it would be a faux pas to sop it up with bread sticks, which is something we always do at our own table.

I want to thank you for all your Cruise Critic contributions and for sharing your book, website, insights, and your current battle. My husband and I have you in our thoughts, hearts, and prayers during your challenges in this new chapter of life.

I am so sorry to hear your sad news... My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family... We started sailing Celebrity about the same time.... I loved your reviews and posts and I too remember the good old days with many of the posters who we don't hear from anymore... I ordered your book when it first came out, and I often read it before a cruise, just to laugh again and enjoy your humor and fun.. We are thinking of you and Kris, Ryan and Wells, as well as your sweet Mom.

Praying for you to have strength, peace and love in your days ahead.

God Bless You

I, too, went to your website where I have spent the last two hours reading some of your warm humorous stories. Your mother is right - you have a way with words! I had to also order your book. My prayers go out to you and your family.

I wanted you to know that I began my Cruise Critic career (I was pretty much a lurker) by reading your very first cruise review. It was everything that I have come to know about cruising. I, to this day, still chuckle at your mishap with the glass door and developing a cut shaped like an X on your forehead as a result. God speed to you ChesterH.

Oh Chester, how brave and considerate you are. Like so many others I read and found your book utterly charming. You find pleasure and interest in places others miss. Good lessons for us all.

I wish you and your family peace as you journey on. As a woman of faith I also wish you God's speed.

And I know that you are also a great sea lover.

Never, never give up. I have had to cancel two cruises since I was diagnosed with Lymphoma Feb. 2013. It is a battle, but be determined and have faith.

My wife and I are now leaving Venice in September for our much anticipated Adriatic cruise, so you see you can win!

So sorry to hear of your failing health. Just want you to know how much I have enjoyed your writing. When you first posted on cruise critic I copied every page you wrote and put it in a binder. I always loan it to all my friends who have never cruised before so they can see how wonderful cruising can be. Thanks for all the memories. Prayers coming your way and all my best wishes.

The cruise to heaven is the one we will all take sooner or later. I'm so sorry it is sooner for you. I wish you calm seas on your journey.

I second... life is a journey - we all try to life to the fullest. God Bless you.
