Is anyone aware of any Royal Caribbean specials? I haven't noticed any lately.

None at present but Royal may decide to keep Spectrum here and possibly even Voyager if things don't improve in Asia.

They will have to throw a few specials around I think to quickly sell the cruises. Probable Spectrum will still command high ish prices as its virtually a brand new ship.

We need to remember that it's setup for the China market. Big on casinos, small on bars.

Have you sailed on Spectrum. We spent over 40 days on the ship on the repos to Shanghai.

Most passengers were from other places than China and almost everyone I met agreed that Spectrum was a fantastic ship.

Plenty of places to get a drink and the VIP casino area in Music Hall can be converted back to a lounge if required. If not it will be just left closed off as it was for some of the repo.

To remind cruisers that we live in interesting times, some Inside pp fares:

March 18th, Voyager of the Seas, 10 nights Islands, $775

March 20th, Celebrity Solstice, 12 nights Qld & NZ, $982

March 21st, Ruby Princess, 14 nights Fiji, $ 989

March 22nd, Carnival Splendor, 12 nights Fiji, $792

April 1st, Queen Elizabeth, 11 nights NZ, $949

April 14th, Pacific Explorer, 10 nights Islands, $599

May 12th, Sapphire Princess, 10 nights Coral Coast, $664

As far as I can see, these fares are everywhere.

Those are some remarkable fares (if the ports are open).

I think you have marked these fare up wrong.

I think it should be this.

March 18th, Voyager of the Seas, 10 nights + 14 nights + Islands, $775

Wish we didn't have to pay another $700 pp to get to and from the port otherwise we would be onboard 😞

I think they've learned from the Diamond Princess debacle. They won't quarantine the ship. If there is an outbreak of corona on board they would more than likely turn back home and offload the passengers into the Australian hospital system. From there most would just be sent home and a few stay to be treated.

The more likely event is of the ports in the South Pacific being closed to cruise ships.

Can someone please advise what the Cunard gratuities are so that I can work out if the deals are as good as they seem.

15% on purchases such as drinks. Daily is about US13 depending on cabin class. Their web site should have the correct amounts.

Correct,

for drinks there is a charge of 15%,

for Daily gratuities it is $13.50 USD pp per day for Grill Suites and $11.50 USD for the Britania staterooms.

I was hoping that Royal Caribbean would have some cheaper sailings comparable with some of the other lines.

Has anyone seen any or have I just missed them?

Ten day cruise on the ovation of the seas departing 23rd of March from Sydney.

  • 4 weeks later...

Carnival are showing $659 for 8 nights to New Cal for a balcony.  When I try and book, the price jumps back up to $959.  I called Carnival, and the guy said the $959 was the correct price.  I said I'd think it over seeing as I'm booked on the August 31st cruise.  $659 would've been a steal!
