Aus Traveller Posted January 14 #5226 Share Posted January 14 Just now, MMDown Under said: Fees and taxes aren't usually a big part of the overall cost. What makes this a deal is the extras - included gratuities, premier beverage package open bar, wifi plus a dinner in a speciality restaurant. Agreed. Gratuities and the premier beverage package are big inclusions.
plettza Posted March 2 #5227 Share Posted March 2 (edited) I just booked a Carnival cruise for January next year. 11 nights to South Pacific, $800 total for a balcony that I chose. That's not per person, that's total. Something is whacked with their prices. There were other cruises that were/are similarly priced sailing to various destinations. But when I thought I'd try and book a second cruise at those prices, going through the booking process, those rates went missing. I just had to pay in full at the time of booking Edited March 2 by plettza

When i opened an I Private browser window and my partner logged in with her VIFP number, none of those deals appeared. Nada. I gather it was just be related to my VIFP number somehow. And to confirm, I didn't sneak off the US site. These deals were in AUD and included port fees, taxes, etc. The offer had a rate code but I didn't get a screen shot of that. I probably should've taken more screen shots to back up my side of events. Edited March 2 by plettza

sayaguru Posted March 13 #5233 Share Posted March 13 I think once the go ahead is given prices will rise as people will start booking. We've booked a cruise in Nov on Princess (using our free cruise credits). Just 7 nights. It's gone up $260pp since we booked 3 months ago.
icat2000 Posted March 16 Author #5234 Share Posted March 16 Now that we have been given the GREEN light. Time to start posting those baragins. I have seen lots of emails come through from cruise agents yesterday about cruising starting up again and I got a notification about PO flash sale. So anyone one come across any real baragins. Thought that I'd jump in and get one of those big mini suites on the Explorer. There are also new things that you get with some of the room categories as well so worth checking out what you get with each room before you book. Rassa Posted March 17 #5237 Share Posted March 17 I booked Adventure to the Barrier Reef ages ago and it has been changed to Explorer - it's a cruise so I am going, and it is cheap. Princess cruises are not cheap for the next year but I did get a FCC as compensation for not going on Melb/Singapore on Majestic when we were able to cancel the night before boarding due to the Pandemic. I have regretted not going at least Melb/Perth. At the time we thought the pandemic would only last about 6-12 months. My last cruise was on the Emerald November/December 2019. We are looking forward to boarding Pacific Explorer.
LincolnLegend Posted March 17 #5238 Share Posted March 17 If you have cruised with Carnival, keep an eye on your emails, I got an offer like @plettza and can book a cabin for a 10 nighter out of Sydney for 320 pp, ocean view. It is for certain cruises, can only be used once and only for 2 people but is an amazing deal. There is also a 9 night NZ offering in November this year for under 300 pp, inside cabin. Could those great prices be because not as many passengers are willing to cruise inside after covid? I would expect balcony cabins would be in higher demand than previously. I'm honestly not sure, on some there are balcony cabins available very cheap and some are only inside or ocean view, maybe they are just trying to fill up the ships before they get here. We book insides half the time as we are able to do more cruises per year but with the 7 cruises we currently have booked no one of them is an inside. So perhaps there is less demand at the moment for them.

I just checked my 10 day P&O cruise in June this year that only went on sale late Tuesday and now there are only inside and oceanviews left. Just as well I got the tip off on this board that the P&O replacement cruises had gone on sale on Tuesday. Maybe there might be continued good prices on insides for a while. My daughter has had the same offer which was actually sent to me, as I had booked the last cruise on carnival. I thought it was for me but no only for her..,it seems she went to the casino and spent some money,,,but only on drinks because there was no queues there.! i don’t use the Casio. I phoned Carnival and they explained why she got the offer. She is going overseas this year so can’t use the offer! Bad luck! eileen

Aus Traveller Posted March 17 #5250 Share Posted March 17 The price of 'from $104 pp pn' is a good price if it is for twin share. If it is for a quad, then it isn't great.
