Location to stay in for a few days

My DH and planning on flying to and staying in Barcelona for a few days before our Mediterranean cruise next summer.

 

We are trying to decide on an area to stay in downtown Barcelona - Barceloneta or the Gothic Quarter.

 

We have read about some hotels and wanted to get your input.

 

H10 Raco del Pi

H10 Port Vell

Barcelona Catedral

Hotel Neri

Barcelona Atriam Hotel

Hotel Jazz

We twice have stayed at the Hotel Jazz in the past few years and highly recommend it. Located just outside the Gothic Quarter, right on the excellent express bus line from the airport and with lovely modern rooms and a/c. It also has a rooftop pool and terrace with a variety of seating, which provided a wonderful place to relax after our full days of sightseeing.

Another vote for hotel jazz. Stayed there 5 years ago and loved it. Returned to Barcelona post cruise (I was working on the ship and really needed a good rest) stayed for 5 days with my daughter. Central, clean quiet and reasonable.

Just a thought...We were thinking of staying in an apartment for a few days next spring also. It seems to be much cheaper and you could have washing machine and kitchen facilities included.
