Celebrity Credit Card

Recommended Posts

Just got an email offer for a credit card for Celebrity/RCCL. one benefit is the ability to redeem 10,000 points for $100 OBC. However, reading the fine print is sounds like they might not let you use that in combination with 123Go offers or other discounts you might already have. it seems if it's a credit card redemption it shouldn't matter. I have a cruise booked for a very good price, but was wondering if anyone had experience redeeming credit card posts and could confirm or deny how the rules actually work and if we might expect to be able to get the extra OBC.

I would be very surprised if that is true. Will be interested to see the responses to this.

in my experience, you can always redeem points for OBC, regardless of the deal you got. The restrictions kick in when you are redeeming points for a cabin discount (or companion fare) as these directly affect the bottom line of the cabin price.

Hi Dszrew,

I asked this question some time ago, and I'm fairly certain that you should be able to combine this offer and redeem points for OBC's etc. Unfortunately, my information could be outdated by now.

Hopefully, other community members or the Celebrity rep will comment.

it seems like OBC should be much like getting a cash reward or a gift certificate and shouldn't depend on any promotions you paid. after all, we are redeeming points from the credit card, not reducing the cruise fare. however, here's the clause I'm wondering about:

"MyCruiseRewards are available for redemption on any eligible Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean or Azamara cruise vacation but may not be combined with any other promotional offers and/or certain Crown & Anchor Society, Captain’s Club or Le Club Voyage promotions and benefits. MyCruise Rewards are also not combinable with restricted pricing including, but not limited to, Going-Gone-Gone, Residential rates, senior rates, and military rates. Reward Redemptions may be used by individuals, participants in qualified group bookings, by single guests, and for use with third and fourth guest bookings."

I haven't called because I doubt the ability of anyone to do anything but quote this back to me and make their own interpretations. I'm mostly wondering if anyone has had success or restrictions on redeeming points for OBC.

if allowed, I could simply sign up for the credit card, pay for my upcoming cruise using the card, and get $200 OBC plus 1 free specialty dining for two...

I have an upcoming cruise in April. I just applied for this credit card, was approved and will receive the packet soon. I am going to pay off my cruise and then see what happens. I should be getting 100.00 obc (if chargeed within 65 days of opening account) and a 90.00 credit at a specialty restaurant (if certain amount charged within 90 days). I got a deal when I booked this cruise on our balcony cabin (I think it was bogo half off, but it was April 2013 and I forget). So I'm hoping I can use these two benefits when I fulfill the requirements. Thanks for bringing this topic up :)

I have the Azamara credit card and have used the OBC's on several cruises on both Celebrity and Azamara. It does not matter what other perks you may have, this is always available as long as you have enough points to redeem. For some reason, however, it does show up as non refundable credits, so do not redeem more than you will use.

Might be better to redeem the points for money off the price of the cruise rather than for OBC. Why? Costs you casino fee if thers any OBC left over. But wait until the day after final payment and then apply for discount price, and you'll get it right away as a credit on your charge card

That's pretty much what I do. I began by cashing in points and then withdrawing any unused in board credit at the casino but soon realized that it didn't make sense to pay that casino fee.

In addition to the OBC option, there's an option to take a sum of money off the price of the cruise, so that's what I do now. Five thousand points gives you $50 OBC or $50 off the cruise fare, which actually is applied as $50 credit on my next credit card statement.

this is refundable OBC, therefore you do not need to take it out at the casino, it would be put on your cc as a refund.

On your cruise folio, the credits are annotated as being non-refundable or refundable. Now it does take a couple of days before they post to your account, but after 3 days, you should be completely aware of the totals in each category. Call me Mr. Squeezenickel, but we have completed several cruises with refunds, and had a wonderful time!

I have not read the other comments.

We have the RCCL Visa, sailed the Reflection last yr, cashed in points for OBC and had the 123 pick your perk. Doing the same this yr with the RCCL and Celebrity cards. We will use the credit to upgrade our Bev pkg and buy an additional 3 night dinning pkg once we board.

I also enrolled in this card, paid off my cruise at final payment, spent the required 1500. And did it within the first 65 days. Now do I have to chase down the onboard credit and the specialty dinner or will I receive something in the mail?

after the points are awarded to your account, you then have to redeem those points for the OBC. I'm not sure about the specialty dining coupon.

When you get the card statement that shows the point total, call the Capt Club. The recording will direct you to which # to push to cash in your points.
