Hello,

We have three rooms booked at GalleryOne for 4/23/14-4/25/14 before we leave on our cruise. There will be 6 adults plus a 4 year old and a 10 month old. None of us have been to Fort Lauderdale before. We are flying from the West Coast so will not be getting in until dinner time Thursday night. Please help us with things to do close by that can accommodate children.

I am thinking for Friday we will have all day so spending time at the pool and then in the afternoon/evening taking the water taxi around and ultimately ending up in Las Olas area for dinner. - Is this what sounds best for us? Or any recommendations for a fun/relaxing/kid friendly place for dinner on the waterfront? How does the river taxi work?

Does anyone know how much the buffet breakfast is at Galleryone?

Transportation Question- How many people (each person with a suitcase) fit in a taxi? Any taxi vans? Aproximately how much is a taxi from FLL to GalleryoOne and then GalleryOne to Port Everglades? There will be 4 adults, the baby and one child going from FLL to GalleryOne upon arrival however all 6 adults, the baby and one child going from Galleryone to the Port. Are taxis our best option? I'm guessing we will need two taxis from the hotel to the port maybe even for FLL to the hotel if they do not have van taxis. OR do you think a private van/car service would be better?

Is there somewhere walking distance from the hotel to purchase wine?

Does anyone have a time they recommend leaving the hotel for the Port? We are departing Saturday 4/25 on Royal Caribbean Oasis.

Thanks for all the help!!!

Amber

Yes taxis are the best option. We were there a few weeks ago and the taxi from airport to hotel was approx. 25.00 including tip. Taxi from hotel to port was 18.90 plus tip. I asked the attendant for taxi and he motioned for a small white van which was parked across the way. When it pulled up he immediately started placing our bags in the rear and I then realized that it was a shuttle. I immediately told the attendant to remove our bags and that I had asked for taxi. I did ask the shuttle driver his cost and he said 15.00 per person. The hotel is only about a block walk from the Galleria Mall which has some very nice restaurants and a wonderful food court. Also across the street and about a block away is a Publix grocery store. The beach is about a 3 block walk across the bridge and intracoastal behind the hotel. Also the water taxi does stop right at the hotel and your idea of taking it to Las Olas is good. There are numerous restaurants near the stop in Las Olas. This was our 3rd stay at the Gallery One and we enjoyed staying there as usual. Service is excellent. Almost forgot, but yes Publix has a very nice wine selection.

Get two cabs at the airport.

Kids friendly restaurants on Las Olas:

Cheesecake Factory

Big City Tavern

Not on Las Olas but on the Water Taxi Route:

Bokampers

15th Street Fisheries

Walking distance from your hotel:

PF Changs

There are a lot of dining options around you and on Las Olas but unfortunately, not many are kid friendly.

AKOLASZ......we stayed at Gallery One last April. We were a group of 10 including 3 children. Does the 10 month old need a carseat?? We used Johns carservice to pick us up at the airport and take us to the hotel then the next day to take us to the ship. He also picked us up after the cruise and took us back to the airport. He provided a carseat at no extra charge. We used him because of the car seat and also we all wanted to stay together.

If you use cabs I don't know if they will take a baby without a carseat.

The water taxi was not something we used because it was too expensive for all 10 of us. It was $22/adult , less for kids. We walked to an Italian restaurant for dinner that evening. It wasn't very far. Can't remember the name of it but the folks at the front desk told us about it.

The breakfast buffet was $20 for adults, don't remember the charge for kids.

Hope this helps.
