what to do in nassau

Sailing on Breakaway Nov 2nd to the Bahamas. Have all our excursions booked except for Nassau. Wondering if you have to book an excursion. Can you go to Atlantis on your own. Are there buses that you can go on when you get off the ship? Would like to know any info from people who have already been there and have taken any excursions. Thanks.
