pjo Posted October 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2014 Out family is looking at a Bermuda cruise next summer. Since Princess does not do Bermuda my question is this: between NCL and Celebrity what comes closest to Princess? Which line do we pick? Coupe Posted October 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 16, 2014 I did this cruise on the Celebrity Summit and it was the worst cruise I have ever taken.
swedish weave Posted October 16, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 16, 2014 I believe the more relaxed atmosphere on NCL is closer to Princess.
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted October 16, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 16, 2014 NCL had the worst food and smallest cabins we have experienced on any cruise line. Definitely choose Celebrity.
janacin Posted October 16, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 16, 2014 Definitely Celebrity. NCL is about four steps below Carnival.

Rare Lady Arwen Posted October 16, 2014 #12 Share Posted October 16, 2014 Celebrity wins hands down! Love, love, love Summit! The best crew of all Celebrity ships.
Rare Cruise Junky Posted October 16, 2014 #13 Share Posted October 16, 2014 I don't think any one has asked about your family? If there are young kids, I'd probably suggest NCL. If it's more adults then Celebrity.
cubfan63 Posted October 16, 2014 #14 Share Posted October 16, 2014 Holland America is also doing some Bermuda cruises next summer, sailing from Boston. In Bermuda, they dock in Hamilton, instead of out at Kings Wharf.
shamda Posted October 16, 2014 #15 Share Posted October 16, 2014 Definitely Celebrity. The Solstice class ships are great. More laid back like Princess. We were on the NCL Epic a couple of years ago and it is like a 3 ring circus. Hated it.
sterling2 Posted October 16, 2014 #16 Share Posted October 16, 2014 Haven't sailed Celebrity, but have sailed both Princess and NCL and enjoy them both. I hope you posted on NCL and Celebrity also.
richsea Posted October 16, 2014 #17 Share Posted October 16, 2014 Of the 2, Celebrity comes closest to Princess. We took one NCL cruise, on Breakaway, & were pleasantly surprised, except the MDR food & service was horrible, but the specialty restaurants were very good. If there are kids involved, NCL would most likely be their choice. You may want to try Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas, which does a 5 night, or 9 night with one day in Bermuda,& the rest in the Caribbean. Barbrox Posted October 16, 2014 #19 Share Posted October 16, 2014 Actually if you would consider Holland America, they have the advantage of docking right on Front Street in Hamilton instead of the dock yards in St George. pastelartist Posted October 16, 2014 #20 Share Posted October 16, 2014 Went on Celebrity Summit last May to Bermuda with husband and a 21 and 23 year old. Got the alcohol beverage package and 2 rooms. Food was great and everyone had a great time! Captain was very entertaining, and crew was awesome! (Ship shows some wear.) We also have traveled on Princess, NCL and Carnival. Celebrity is closest to Princess.
bar_20 Posted October 16, 2014 #21 Share Posted October 16, 2014 NCL seems to spend every waking moment of your cruise trying to sell you something. Celebrity seems to spend only half of that time. ;)
Cruising.Lovers Posted October 17, 2014 #22 Share Posted October 17, 2014 I would definitely take NCLs Breakaway class of ships, be it Breakaway or Getaway. I cancelled my cruise with Celebrity and booked with NCL, the Summit is an old run down ship and can not compare to the brand new ships NCL has, if you live in the New York City area, I would check into RCIs Quantum of the Seas leaving from NJ, not sure about the Bermuda run yet, I know the Explorer of the Seas does that run but will soon be replaced by the Quantum
Rare mistyPA Posted October 17, 2014 #23 Share Posted October 17, 2014 I have never sailed Celebrity, but NCL Breakaway is a very nice ship. Lots to do for kids and adults alike and equally not do if you just want to relax. Entertainment is varied. The food in the MDR is not quite what is offered on Princess, but there are many options that are very good, both specialty and included.
KruzeKrazy! Posted October 17, 2014 #24 Share Posted October 17, 2014 Another option: don't cruise to/back from Bermuda - make it a non-cruise trip and save your next cruise trip for a Princess one...
ComputerTravelGuy Posted October 18, 2014 #25 Share Posted October 18, 2014 Out family is looking at a Bermuda cruise next summer. Since Princess does not do Bermuda my question is this: between NCL and Celebrity what comes closest to Princess? Which line do we pick? Paul We enjoy the music, entertainment and lesser cost on most NCL ships. The Breakaway is a great, new ship (unlike the Epic, currently in the Caribbean, which has design flaws). However, food on HAL and Princess in the MDR is a bit better. I'll be taking my first Celebrity cruise this Spring but likely closest to Princess (based on family recommendations), but more expensive seems to be favored by an older clientele (which drives entertainment options). Have fun!
