thanks f/replies about the Grande. I'm concerned about "formality". DH has a neck issue and cannot wear any tie or close the top button. Planning on looking dressy, albeit, without tie. Hope this is not going to upset the protocol.

We have show reservations to coincide with dining reservations, so I'm a tad concerned about a delay in service in the Grande to interfere with the theater.

Anyone know how long it takes to walk from the Grande to the Theater?

Anybody eat dinner in the WJ? if yes, any comments?

I think if you otherwise look dressy, no tie should not be an issue, but that's just my two cents.

The Grand is on the third floor and the Theater is on the fourth and fifth floors. I don't recall it seeming long, but we were just always so busy and running all over the ship. I may not be the best judge. We didn't have any issues with delays in the Grand, but beware the American Icon Grill. We had a huge ordeal getting our food one morning in there, and the one dinner we ate in there the server actually forgot about us!

We had dinner in the WJ on one night and it was quite nice. There are tables outside on the terrace at the back of the ship which provide a lovely view.

As far as the food in the Grand goes, we found it quite tasty. It was the least generously portioned. We had two appetizers, though, so it didn't really matter. We were given the heads up on that by others at our table who'd been before.

You are walking from the back of the ship to the front of the ship - think 3 football fields. Remember that they start giving away seats to folks without reservations 15 min before the show.

On subsequent times in any of the restaurants, including Grande, you can be done in an hour if seated at a table for 2. If sharing, it can take longer depending on what stage of table fullness you walk in (they generally won't start serving till the table fills up) and the efficiency of your servant.

i just read through this over the past two days

thanks for taking the time while you were on your cruise...

i don't know how you managed it....i'm far too selfish to take the time away from my cruising fun to write out posts!!!

looks like a fun ship..

i hadn't planned on trying it, but i think i might once it gets to shanghai...

(though the thought of mamma mia turns my stomach - abba, blech)..

thanks again for all the information and pictures...really fun to look through it all (and boy am i hungry!!!!aubergine parmigiana - yum!!!! .. )

I'm not much for Abba, either, but the musical was very nicely done we thought.

Someone asked about punching holes in your card for a lanyard. We were told by guest services punching a hole would invalidate the card and we would have to come up to get another if we tried it.

One amazing feature on the ship was the stairway leading to a glass-floored landing on the top floor of the ship. It was pretty awe-inspiring to be able to see the floor some ten floors down below under your feet!

How do you get the 25% future discount as I did not get it?

We also got free drinks the first night as the computers were down so that was a nice thing they did for us:cool:

I am book to go on the Anthem also as this is a beautiful class of ship:eek:

We were told the 25% future credit would come in the form of a numbered certificate mailed to whatever address you had given for your account. They said to redeem it you would just give Royal or your TA the certificate number to apply to your account. They also said we'd have it in two weeks time and we haven't seen it in our mail yet. But a lot of people are off on vacation for the holiday, so we'll probably just call next week if we still haven't seen it by Tuesday or Wednesday. Planning on using the credit on our Majesty cruise next year.

I wish we would book the Anthem, but hubs is reluctant for some reason. He always takes a bit of cajoling to plan a vacation and I haven't even broached the Majesty cruise with him yet. ;)

Ties are not required in the Grande, only jackets for men (but most had ties anyway). The food was great, especially the beef tenderloin (it was better than the prime rib in Chic). Ate there twice. We rated it our favorite restaurant. Neither dinner took more than 1-1/2 hours. Lots of availability for the earlier times (before 7 PM).

Grande is in the stern; the theater is in the bow. About an eight-hundred foot stroll and one deck up.

I am in the group that was not impressed at all with the Grande. I maybe hit them on a bad night. I usually focus on providing positive reviews of the venues that I like, more than being critical of those I personally did not as dining is so subjective.

I much preferred the Lamb T Bone and Rib Eye at Chic to the Lobster Thermidor and Lamb Shank at the Grande. I might be biased as I had had such a fantastic Lamb Shank on the Oasis TA, just a week earlier that was far superior to the one served at the Grande and the presentation on Oasis was much better.

Where is this? Haven't seen anything about this.

The glass floored stair landing is on the stairway from deck 14 to deck 15 in the center of the aft glass elevators. You are able to look down to deck 5 and view the butterfly sculptures all the way down the 10 floor atrium.

WOW! Quantum Launchers you did a fantastic job on the review! I just finished reading through all the posts. My husband & I are thinking of doing the Anthem of The Seas Transatlantic in October.

I have a couple of questions:

1. We have never done a transatlantic, I am used to sandals, capris, etc, what do I need for clothes?

2. Did they play bingo on the cruise, if so, how much is it to play?

3. Is the casino open every night of a transatlantic?

4. Anything else you want to add?

We look forward to hearing from you :)

I have a couple of questions:

1. We have never done a transatlantic, I am used to sandals, capris, etc, what do I need for clothes? That's fine with Dynamic dining no formal wear is necessary.

2. Did they play bingo on the cruise, if so, how much is it to play? yes every sea day $25 $35 or more depending on your pocketbook

3. Is the casino open every night of a transatlantic? 9am til noon slots, tables open @ noon til 2/3am depending on the crowd

4. Anything else you want to add? read some posts from later cruises on the Quantum to get a better insight on what's happening. Keep an open mind in what they say. It may not apply to what you can do. We mostly report you decide.

We look forward to hearing from you :)

We were on that crossing the weather was not the best so we did a lot of inside activities. What to wear, how's the food, shows and other things are yours to experience. We don't let anyone opinions decide our going or not.
