Corkage question

I have searched the threads re the drinks package and can't really find an answer to my questions

1 - I have read that some people bring wine on board - does this mean we can bring a case on board and take a bottle into any restaurant for dinner each and every night?

2. Re corkage, I see $15 quoted - can anyone tell me if that is per bottle or per person?

3 - Is the quality of the wine on the drinks package different from those wines offered by the bottle (we are in the wine business so .....)

thank you

We sailed in August on the Windsurf for 19 days and took a case of wine on board and didn't have any problems. We had the wine in 2 half case boxes to make it easier to transport. We would fill up our glass in the room and take it up on deck or to the lounges. The corkage fee is $15 per bottle, not per person. We also purchased several bottles of their wine and many of their cocktails. The drink package includes only wines offered by the glass. Most of the wines are very drinkable but not high end. We didn't buy the drink package and found we didn't even come close to spending that much overall. If you are off the ship during the day you would need to drink 6-8 cocktails/wine per person each evening. Makes it really hard to get up the next morning if you do that.

Thanks Hillskis…we have come to the same conclusion re the amount needed to drink considering we will be touring all day.

It's great we can take wine on board and to have it confirmed by you that the drinks package wines are not "high end", as you say. We are in the business so the quality matters.

Stagetroll, you mention the wine shop on the French side in St. Maarten - we will be staying on the Dutch side for 2 nights before we board the Wind Surf - any suggestions for wine shops there?

There are several a few blocks from the casino on some of the side streets. I found a few bottles of '96 Dom for under $100 each about 10 years ago at one of them.
