Maiden Voyage Cancelled

The news said that over 1,000 passengers were affected and I believe some were on board as there are videos from the news channels from inside staterooms and restaurants. However, these may have been stock videos from promo days before. The news showed folks wheeling their luggage back to their cars, not happy campers indeed. Plus it was The Super Bowl party. WOW.

the Coast Guard wouldn't sign off on the ship. So they weren't allowed to board any passengers. Whoever was responsible for the PA system has a whole lot of explaining to do. We know she is seaworthy so to have to fail an inspection for that is absolutely insane. I would think she could sail on Tuesday, which is her next schedule departure from WPB. So sad for everyone but glad I am not sailing until May.:D

Here is the story, and no passengers were boarded, only VIP friends of the Owner's most likely, or Cruise Line executives looking over on the railing.

We were invited to sail Casino VIP on this sailing and I am glad we did not book it. About a month ago I wrote that I would wait until the ship has sailed a few times before booking, I just knew something like this would keep it from sailing. I had a funny feeling. Been there, done that. I remember the touch and go sailings with the Palm Beach Princess towards the end of her reign. I would have to call about two hours before she sailed to see if she actually was sailing. I sure hope that The New Bahamas Paradise Luxury Grand Celebration Cruise Line of Palm Beach, Florida gets their act together. Not starting out on a good foot.

This is what concerns me about these small one ship cruise lines. They do not have the resources to resolve issues. In the event of a major event which may be life threatening, not sure I have the warm fuzzy feelings I am in good hands.

I used to work on the announcing systems in the Navy, I am baffled by how a cruise line with so much at stake was unable to resolve this known issue over the course of a few days. The speakers are in place, the cables are in place. Is the shoestring budget so tight they can't buy a new amplification unit which can easily be installed?

Like others have said, this certainly is not a good way to start their business.

That could be in part because no PA system.

Could be. The article is a little vague.

I saw the crew on deck, lifeboats in water, and ships horn being tested Saturday. For the sake of all involved I hope they get everything together and can sail tomorrow

I was just remembering my behind the fun tour aboard carnival. And the fire responders are dispatched from the bridge via walkie talkies and PA system.

FIRE SAFETY AT SEA AND COMMUNICATIONS ARE MY NUMBER ON PRIORITY. I certainly don't want a crew to be untrained and ill advised. And like the disaster on the Costa Concordia or better yet, that Greek Liner where the crew abandoned ship and left the 800 passengers and entertainment crew behind to fend for themselves with no life boats, my safety is foremost for my considerations of travel. Yep, it's time to "Convince Me".

Have those martinis and you will warm up quick;)

Oh, by the way, I booked NCL Escape for Nov. They are giving unlimited drinking package. That sale was supposed to end 1/31, but it is still going. Saturday, they were even giving 3 person on free too. I can't wait:)

I booked Escape this weekend too; Kids Sail Free AND Drinks Promo. Saved me a fortune compared to my "go to" cruise line.

74° halfway between Boca and West Palm. Breezy though. You're right, a martini or two will take the chill right off.

Just noticed Groupon under cruise $199.99 for 2 passengers interior + tax . Cost for upgrades are also listed. Cruises are for select dates this month

Tempting but out of the question for us right now. :(

Well I just noticed on marine traffic that Grand Celebration is on her way! Left a little late due to wind I think.

 I thought I was anxious before... We are set to leave on GC on the 15th.. this is our first cruise and we were suckered into purchasing it 2 years ago (when Caribbean Cruise Line was still in business).. We are just now taking it, otherwise we'd lose it.. paying for a "free" cruise... who'da thunk it? I sure hope its worth it!

I did the free cruise about a year ago on the other ship. We had a great time. This new ship lokes even better. We only paid for taxes, gratuity and parking. Because we didn't upgrade at all or add any days we were not required to do the time share presentations. We just went to port and boarded like everyone else. We had printed out all of our passes etc. ahead. That being said, this is technically a new company. I would be a little leary to not stop off at the timeshare office for the "boarding passes" until I heard now. Did you upgrade to extra days or a better stateroom?

Just a warning CARIBBEAN Cruise was the name of the timeshare ship line. The cruise ship line was Celebration Cruise. Confirm that your passes are still good.

We just returned from the maiden voyage on the GC. It us still a time share ship. I wasn't thinking, I didn't take any interior photos. They always have a bunch of things to work out. While, not awful, there were issues with lines, unorganized, and details to work out. No phone numbers to access anyone is major in my book, "oh, we are working on that,"
