RCmommy Posted March 16, 2015 Author #51 Share Posted March 16, 2015 I asked earlier but nobody answered. Why can't you get a price reduction if she hasn't reached final payment yet? Are there special rules for the promotion she boooked as far as price reductions go. I can't find the rules for her promo on the CCL website. Bill I had the understanding that we were eligible for price reductions until final payment was made. In our case, it is 30 days out which for us is the 27th of March. We were not told any differently on the phone with Carnival when booking this cruise on this promo. I did not book this cruise with the notion that the price would drop. Of course, like the majority on here discussing price drops, I HOPE it might and we would be able to apply it. It was never a make or break deal. Who doesn't want to save some pennies when they can? I stated that I was surprised to see that our cruise prices had not moved, with the exception of once, maybe twice they have gone up. Other than that they remain the same. I was just wondering if that seems normal since I read so much about the fluctuations in price. I now understand that this means we are likely not to see much change because we did not book that far out, or because we scored the best possible rate. RCmommy Posted March 16, 2015 Author #52 Share Posted March 16, 2015 If you read the last paragraph of the OP's post you will have your answer. Thank you for that.
TeamPez Posted March 16, 2015 #53 Share Posted March 16, 2015 What is everyone's experience on getting reimbursed for price drops AFTER final payment is due? On the cruise my wife and I booked, the price dropped $100, and we were offered an upgrade to an obstructed oceanview (from inside) or $50 in credit for the room. We took the upgrade. The prices dropped again and they then offered an upgrade to a balcony for $150/each or suite $575 each. We countered with the balcony for $100 each so we ended up with a balcony for only $200 more than the original price on an 11 day cruise. Is that typical? Did we do well? Poorly? You are correct, you are eligible for a price drop until final payment. In this case many people have assumed that you booked your cruise after final payment was due. IF that were true, then you would not be eligible for a price drop. However, as you have noticed, many people do not read the entire post, or they read something into the post that is not there. Sounds like you did great to me. Carnival does not offer rebates for price drops after final payment unless you book early saver.

I did read the entire post and no where did OP state that she was under the special offer where she was not past final payment yet...30 days before sail. If she had stated that she was still before final payment then no one would have stated that she was not eligible for a refund due to being after final payment and not booking ES. Carol Jones Posted March 16, 2015 #58 Share Posted March 16, 2015 I suppose I just got lucky. In January, I booked our May 31 Breeze cruise (2 cove balcony rooms- one with 2 people and the other 3 people) and so far the price has dropped 3 times on the room we have 3 people in and once on the room we have 2 people in. I booked the room with 2 people with a casino rate %40 off. Anyway I currently have $480 in room credit on our room with 3. Have you tried doing mock bookings? If she had stated that she was still before final payment then no one would have stated that she was not eligible for a refund due to being after final payment and not booking ES. The OP never said she was after final payment. You made that assumption. If you were not clear on that then you should have asked for more information. You made the assumption. You are the one that read something into the post that was not there. Edited March 17, 2015 by Cuizer2
ccruisequeen Posted March 17, 2015 #60 Share Posted March 17, 2015 (edited) Within a week of booking, I was lucky to get a special past guest casino offer that I applied. It saved me $79. I booked 7 months out. Edited March 17, 2015 by ccruisequeen
RCmommy Posted March 17, 2015 Author #61 Share Posted March 17, 2015 When we booked this cruise the CAD/USD exchange rate was not good for us so the difference in price meant we had to go for an OV instead of balcony. I had a glimmer of hope that if the price dropped we may be able to upgrade to the balcony. Either way, we paid a great price (I believe) for the four of us for the OV and we are happy to be sailing soon. I appreciate all the feedback everyone :)
CarnivalCreed Posted March 17, 2015 #62 Share Posted March 17, 2015 So, I read so much about price drops and such I am beginning to wonder what I am doing wrong. I have been checking our cruise prices daily since booking (4 weeks ago)-sometime twice a day and they have not budged! Okay, once, the price was $10 less per person, but when I went through the mock booking and choose the cabin etc, the end price was the same. I mean right down the cents. So, I am wondering did we book to close to our sail date to expect much of a change? But then I thought maybe prices would lower as the cruise draws near. I did not book this cruise counting on the hope there would be one, I just find it pretty amazing the price has not moved when I read so many others posting about it. I suppose those people booked months or even a year or more in advance, right? Yeah I have been checking for price drops consistently since I booked my Hawaiian cruise for May last August. I only got lucky once where I received a $120 credit but maybe Hawaii cruises just don't get discounted as much
Maraprince Posted March 17, 2015 #63 Share Posted March 17, 2015 We too have been watching the pricing. Suggestion...switch the date of your sailing if at all possible. We did and saved almost $450! Plus, we weren't even charged for the change! MARAPRINCE
