Jaxsonbrownie Posted September 6, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2005 We have booked a hotel for our cruise next April and the hotel provides transfers from airport to hotel, hotel to pier the next morning. We will need transportation from pier to airport after cruise. Should we book transfers from Princess, or is it easy to catch a taxi at the pier after the cruise? There are 5 of us, so we would probably need 2 taxi's. Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks:) Jaxson
regnig Posted September 6, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2005 We've done both, Princess transfers (long time ago) and taxis. Our vote is to take a cab. They are plentiful and the charge is by the cab. Even after you tip for luggage the cost will be less than all of you getting transfers. Plus, you will not have to wait for the Princess bus to fill up and the cab will drop you right at your airlines which the bus will not do. vmom Posted September 7, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 7, 2005 There are alot of taxis of various sizes waiting in at the port. You won't have any trouble finding a taxi. Before you get in, tho ask what the approx. cost will be and be careful if it an unmetered van. We got a minivan taxi for 5 of us from pier to airport for $9.50 plus tip. On the way to the ship we had taken a taxi-ford grand victoria that easily fit 5 of us for $12 + tip. At the pier a person directing taxis tried to push us into an unmetered 15 passenger van for $30. We said no and got into a minivan instead for 1/3 the cost. We didn't need a 15 passenger van for just 5 of us.
Jaxsonbrownie Posted September 7, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted September 7, 2005 Thank you all for the info. Last cruise, we had purchased a princess transfer for both of us for $40. I had wondered how easy it was to just grab a taxi as we fly out of FLL,not far from the pier.It will be nice to save a few extra dollars:) Jaxson
coiran Posted September 7, 2005 #6 Share Posted September 7, 2005 There are a lot of van services parked at the pier charging anywhere from $6 to $8 pp - we use http://www.bcsexpress.com - he is very reliable. Ron
Iamthesea Posted September 7, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 7, 2005 Don't forget that gas prices are up and that the cab fare will likely be higher than above quotes.;)
