Is Splendor coming back to Long Beach?

Not a big fan either. Sailed her twice out of Long Beach and had major problems on both.

The ship was jinxed before it left last time. Crashed into another ship, captain had to be replaced due to health problems, the fire, and a tour getting robbed!

I've booked Splendor for a Feb 21 2016 cruise. Would they really change that? I see that the ship is in Norfolk, then New York and then Miami. What happens to my booking if they move the ship to Long Beach? This would be the first time something like this has happened to me.... :(

No need to worry, the ship wouldn't be coming till late 2016 or early 2017 if it does come back home to Long Beach.

Big problem with the Splendor returning to Long Beach....Parking

Unless they move Inspiration or Imagination.

Mom just got off the Miracle. They had to park on the roof, arriving around noon. Splendor holds 1,000 more pax, most drive in for the weeklong cruises. Getting off (they were first off) today there were no empty spots in the structure. Some did park in the flats.

I saw JH asked if anyone had went on a Panama Canal Cruise. Could that be a hint that the Miracle and/or Splendor will do a transit? I know Splendor can not do one until the expansion is complete. Splendor is scheduled to be in Kailua on Oct. 22 and Dec. 17 in 2017 according to dnr.hawaii.gov so maybe it is repositioning later than the miracle. Of course, like everyone else, I am just guessing.

Can't help but notice John Heald posted lots of pictures of Cabo today, specifically all had Splendor in the photo. There was also an individual post asking if people have been on Splendor before. And he has, from time to time, used photos and random posts to hint at things like this.

Could this be a hint that Splendor is coming back? If so that seems like it would also mean another round of South America cruises.

Thoughts?

I don't know when or if the Splendor is coming back to the west coast. But, I am booked on the Splendor in September out of New York for 7 day sailing to New England/Canada. I know it will be in New York thru the fall, after that, I don't know.

That would be trading one Ford Pinto for another :D!

LOL!! We just need one Fantasy class ship here, IMO. They just need to change up the itinerary, Ensenada isn't the nicest destination. A 5 day cruise to Cabo would be nice maybe with a stop in Catalina too

We recently did a 5 day to Cabo on NCL.

Actually overnight-ed in the bay, no sailing out to open the casino and shops.

Tenders ran all night long.

It was nice. Fact that we turned it into a 12 day B2B probably helped. :)

I am surprised that if Carnival wants to run 2 Fantasy class ships out of California that they don't homeport one in Long Beach and one in San Diego.

If this is true, I'm super excited! We are planning a Hawaiian cruise in 2017. :D

Did the Splendor have issues in Hawaii? Something about being too big for Kauai? Hopefully someone will be by to confirm or deny.

I totally agree with you on this one. Would so love it if they brought back a ship, any ship for that matter, back to sail out of San Diego. It's also such a nicer port than the one in Long Beach? Would love to sail back to Acapulco when the Spirit did that run there. I so miss leaving from a home port city & not having up to & leave out Los Angeles. It cost so much to just park out of that port for a 3 or 4 night cruise. Or to spend the night before in a hotel with free parking for the week when we sail on the Miracle. Would much rather just have our Son drop us off at the port in San Diego.

We were on the Splendor to Hawaii. We booked when the cruise first became available and Kauai was on the itineary. Later it was removed and an overnight and 2 days in Honolulu was substituted. They said they could not get permission to dock in Kauai because the size of the ship might damage coral.

I did see on a Hawaii government site that Splendor was scheduled to dock in Kailua on October 22, 2017 and December 10, 2017. It said all posted schedules were tentative.

Long shot, but this is all speculation anyway!

What if the Splendor comes back to West Coast, runs a couple of Hawaii routes, and then goes to Australia? Could Australia support a bigger ship?

Hey, I can dream that all the Spirit class end up back in the USA right?

ETA: I just realized those Hawii dates are kind of far apart.....so probably not likely. Sigh. GIVE US OUR SPIRIT CLASS!

Kailua is on Oahu, same island as Honolulu.
