Live Review - Anthem of the Seas - Maiden Voyage - 22nd April

Recommended Posts

It cost $17 dollars a day - a cocktail is around $14 a day, so you might as well upgrade!

Great, thanks for the quick reply. Yeah a cocktail and a bottle of water and I've made up the difference. Bit of a no brainer!

Thanks for all your info.Enjoying reading it all

Did you notice if they had cider on board.

On past cruise you could get it on the select package but not available in all the bars.

Do they have toiletries in the bathroom.

Devinly decadence is still complimentary! It is listed as a speciality restaurant but complimentary on the cruise compass.

It has been confirmed on board that if you have already pre-paid jamies you will be able to order up to four courses from the a-la-carte menu for 'free'. The jamies manage has stated that this is not an RCI decision but one from jamies land based team to ensure their brand is not compromised.

Hi

Do you have a picture you can post of the Jamaie's a la carte menu with the prices for those who did not reserve Jamie already

Just want to see the food on the menu and the cost.

Is the a la carter for dinner or lunch only or both.

thanks

Day 2

NORTH STAR

North Star opens at around 7.30 and if you don't want to wait this is the time to go! We basically walked straight on! They have limited North Star to ship observation only which keeps each ride down to around 10 min to keep the queues down.

BREAKFAST

We had breakfast in the windjammer. It was very busy, but there were enough stations available to allow a good flow of passengers.

We didn't have a problem getting a table, there was members of staff assisting people to be seated. And we were asked twice if we wanted a drink! So there did not seem to be any staffing issues this morning.

IFLY

Ifly was fantastic! I would certainly recommend this. The check in process was easy! There was a short class explaining safety and then straight up to the wind tunnel. The instructors were very good at assessing who needs some extra assistance and some more encouragement and made sure everyone flew for at least a couple of seconds unaided!

LUNCH AT CAFE270

this is a hidden gem! There is a decent selection of foods and the smaller selection makes you feel a little bit healthier than being at the windjammer!

PUZZLEBREAK

this was a good experience! It took around 60 min to complete the whole experience. One note - this is not available to book on the app you have to seek it out! It is found at fuel on seadays. It's definitely an added value activity to help while away those days at sea. I won't go into this to much as it would spoil your fun at breaking the code and escaping back to the present!

WE WILL ROCK YOU

the main show was amazing! The cast were fantastic, the production and sets were great! This is a must see and I might try to sneak back into another performance!

This was definitely one of the best west end style musical RCI have done!

The run time is actually 105 minutes and NOT 90 minutes as on the cruise planner so take this into consideration when booking your restaurant! It was the full show without an intermission!

DINNER AT CHIC

we were slightly disappointed with our evening meal on day 2 as it was not dynamic dining! They had decided to do a 'taste of quantum' menu with bits taken from all four restaurants and put onto one menu! We have been told that this was a one off and it will be back to normal from day 3!

As the show ran on to almost half 9 the restaurants were very busy after - but everything worked, people were seated with and without reservations! It seems that any problems with DD are not featuring on anthem!

Thank you for letting us know how long We Will Rock You was.

can you let me know if the SPECTRA'S CABARET is 60 min like they stated or this show also longer

thanks

Day 3

BREAKFAST AT SILK

Breakfast at silk was late on as we arrived just as they were preparing to stop sitting guests. I think this reflected on the waiting times of the meal which were rather long! But when the food arrived it was tasty! They have a little buffet out with everything you would need to build your own breakfast in addition to table service.

VIGO

We spent a bit of time in Vigo yesterday morning but didn't really have anything planned so juSt went a wander! It was a nice town but nothing spectacular!

LUNCH AT DEVINELY DECADENCE

This was great! Just turn up and be seated! It was not busy and the food on the buffet selection was very fresh! The turkey meatballs were amazing! This is defiantly a lot less stressful than the windjammer!

SEAPLEX

We spent the afternoon in Seaplex - trying to play table tennis and basketball! This is a really good but forgotten space - they really could do so much more with it!

DINNER AT AMERICAN ICON GRILL

It was an early dinner last night as we had booked the early showing of spectras cabaret. We turned up around 30 minutes earlier than our booking and were seated straight away! No DD disasters so far! The food was really nice and came out fairly quickly!

SPECTRAS CABARET

I was really looking forward to this but it was a bit disappointing! The projectors, robo screens, sound and lighting is amazing! Really good, immersive and very futuristic!

Unfortunately the show itself isn't really cabaret - there was no audience interaction, witty banter or cabaret tunes!

I think this has been hyped up but imo the performance was quite boring!

NIGHTLIFE

There is no nightclub on the ship and they don't seem to have found a venue that works...

They tried 270 earlier on the cruise but have stopped it due to noise complaints.

They are trying the bionic bar but as it is in the middle of the esplanade it doesn't feel right!

Last night was boleros turn to be the nightclub - it is a pretty small space with no real lighting rigs so isn't that impressive!

Not sure why they are not using the music hall as it already has the sound and light infrastructure and isn't really used after midnight!

That being said - I didn't get to bed last night till after 2am so it want a bad night out!

I'm not really a beer/cider drinker will have a look later once my hangover dies off a bit!

They have small tubes of toiletries in the stateroom which are only replenished if you ask for them!

There is tea bags, sugar and a kettle in the staterooms but no milk! There are cartons of milk at breakfast if your a tea drinker which can fit in the fridge!

On the stateroom mini fridge - There's not a problem with the drawer above heating up in our room so it looks like that's sorted! One of the people I'm travelling with had a stash of chocolate in the drawer and it survived!

Smoking is allowed on the casino it's the only internal area where it is permitted - there is a separate non smoking area.

Spectras cabaret lasted around 55 (long) minutes.

There seemed to be Stella and Heineken!

thank you for the update on time of show.

Sad to hear Spectrum show is not that great.. Starwater on Quantum is an amazing show.

Another reviewer said it was great, so it may be a matter of personal taste? For example, I hate cirque du soleil, but thousands of people live their shows

Thanks for the review. It's nice to follow along.

Looks like you have a great time on Anthem!!

Did you bump into the "stowaway piano player" yet? Wonder what's that all about.

Do they have the character breakfast on Anthem?

On Quantum, it was held in Silk for a price.

Do they have character meets on this ship at all?

What do you mean by made up the difference if you're on a package?

We have the select package included with our booking but includes beers and wine up to $9 per glass only. From the OP on this thread will be $17 per day to upgrade to premium and as cocktails are now $14 each really don't need to drink many cocktails to make it worthwhile
