leesataxprep Posted April 27, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2015 (edited) I will be arriving in Honolulu on 6/22, renting a car at the airport and then returning the car to the airport on 6/27. How should I plan to get to the cruise port from there from the rental car return area at the airport? Can we just take a taxi? There will only be 2 of us, plus 3 pieces of luggage. cliffd64 Posted April 27, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2015 A taxi is certainly one option. You could also take the rental car shuttle back to the airport and grab a cab from there easily.
Txfeenix Posted April 27, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 27, 2015 We dropped off our luggage at the cruise terminal in the rental car that morning, then dropped off the car at the airport. There are usually taxis around or you can just call one. It's was so much better doing it without the luggage! It's relatively close but traffic if horrible (well it was 2 yrs ago anyway). Rare mking8288 Posted April 27, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2015 OP, check the Hawaii board/ports section here on CC, it's been a few years - we rented at HNL & return our minivan there, the car rentals run a free shuttle to/from the POA piers on ship dates, no reservations since it's FCFS, space limited so they do ask big groups to be considerate. Hertz is most pricey but they also shuttle to/from downtown Waikiki & the pier. With traffic most of the day, it's about 45 minutes to drop off other pax in the group first + luggage, go to the airport (remember to refuel the car nearby, gasoline from the rental places are more expensive, and gas prices are HIGH already) - dropoff the car & go on the next shuttle back to the pier. All of the car rentals at HNL are really off the airport, some closer (Hertz) than others & you would need to shuttle back to the terminal & then get a cab - taxis don't cruise in front of the rental places. The Hawaii board is your friend here on CC on all the insider's tips. Mahalo !
