Bahamas celebration Hotel question

Recommended Posts

I have read a lot of Celebration reviews, but it seems like when writing a review people don't talk about the Island Hotel much. I've considered going on a cruise with Celebration but I want to do the stay . how is the Viva Wyndham Hotel? How is the entertainment on the island? How is the food? What are the hours of the restaurants are open? These are the questions I have about Bahamas celebration cruise and stay.

We did the cruise and stay last year, but we stayed at the Grand Lucayan, we had an upper floor room, 7th or 8th floor, on the beach side. Room was nothing fancy, but we really enjoyed our stay, beautiful views from our room of the beach, the view was awewome day and night. The food on the property was more expensive than walking across the street to the Grand Lucayan market, huge variety of restaurants to eat at in the market.

The beach was full from about 9 am to 3 am from the cruising day stay people, but by 3ish the beach was pretty much empty, so we spent afternoon on the beach, after everyone left, and spent our 2 days during the day at the market, and in the evening we spent some time at the Casino on the property, casino is nothing fancy or big, but enough to keep us occupied for a few hours.

We only did the stay for 2 nights on the island, so we plan on going back for the 6 night cruise and stay, so we can have 4 nights to stay, will rent a car and explore more of the island, now that we know more about it.

If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer if I can.

No regrets and we loved our stay, nothing fancy, but we had an awesome time.

What made you decide on that resort vs the all inclusive?

It was my sister that had booked the original cruise where we had to do the time share, at the time she booked it, we were new to this, so we had no other info on other hotels. So we just went with it, since we did that of course we have more info on the cruise and stay. We really did like this resort, so we chose to go back and stay there, but on our own this time, we are booking directly thru cruiseline, no time share.

We did check into the all inclusive, but for us it comes out cheaper to do meals and drinks on our own, we walk right across the street to the market, many many cheaper resaurants there, and just as good, plus they have a liquor store where we bought our cold drinks and alcohol for our rooms, we would make our own drinks for the beach, with our little ice chest. was much cheaper than all inclusive.

Plus we really like this place because we went in the middle of the summer, and it was not crowded, granted during the day, there are a lot of people from the cruise ships, but it is cleared out by 3 pm.

I too enjoyed the Grand Lucayan. I had a marina view. Plenty of places to eat and the casino is across the street as well as the beach. This is the area to stay in my opinion.
