HRPro Posted May 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 29, 2015 We plan to tour one of these castles on an upcoming cruise . Which would you recommend ? Thanks ! We loved Cawder Castle--have not been to Dunrobin, but understand it has a great falconry demonstration. Cawder has been in the same family for centuries, and the current Dowager Countess still lives in the Castle. It feels like a family home and the tour was very good. The gardens are beautiful and they have a lovely tearoom. If you enjoy gardens, Cawder might be the place for you. Also, you are very close to the Culloden Battlefield, which has a wonderful visitor's centre. Don't miss stopping in for an hour to see this historic place. They also have a good cafeteria for lunch or tea.
dalgirl Posted May 29, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted May 29, 2015 Thankyou for the response. DH thinks the falconry demonstration sounds interesting. Both castles look wonderful. That might put Dunrobin inthe lead. Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Forums mobile app
wobblybob74 Posted June 1, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2015 I've been to both, and Dunrobin gets my vote. It's more splendid inside and the gardens are nicer. That, of course, is just my opinion as these things can be rather subjective.
