LE BISTRO-FRENCH RESTAURANT

The "meat" place I call it. No I have never ate here before and no I will probably never eat here. I'm not a big meat eater (but will eat things with hamburger in it like lasagna or spaghetti) so it's just not one of those things I decide to pay extra for. Yes, I know others have said you can get seafood (which I love), but I'll still pass. I'm not a "fancy" place-eater-person and when there's names on the menu I probably can not pronounce let alone know what it is or what's in it, I prefer not to go there...just saying.

It is also located in the area of Gatsbys and it has a wine cellar there as well.

WALKWAY OUTSIDE OF LE BISTRO

This was a long hallway/walkway just outside of Le Bistro with windows looking in to the restaurant. It was very pretty.

The Star had the same walkway and the Star had this HUMP in the carpet. I called it the tripping hump. I'm here to tell ya that the Dawn has that same carpet hump. LOL

VENETIAN MAIN DINING ROOM

I love this MDR over the other one. I'm not sure why. It's much bigger and in the past we have had issues with the service being super slow. But this time around it was fantastic. The food was good and so was the staff.

The place itself seems a little dated to me but that's just my opinion. But pretty none-the-less.

When you figure out what this shelf is for, you'll solve one of the great mysteries of life.

Thanks for another great review!

I believe that little fold out shelf thing in the closet is actually a hanging space doubler for people who want to hang clothes on an upper and lower rack. They make it fold up so you can alternatively use the space as a single rack to hang longer items and it's only half the closet since most people want both double and long hanging space. That's my theory. ;)

Thanks for the great review. We will be on the Dawn in August (our first Bermuda cruise).

Thank you. I hope you have a wonderful first Bermuda cruise. :)

Thank you for your latest review:) I have been to Bermuda twice, but not on a cruise. I figure about the only way I will ever get back there will be on a cruise. That is one more for my bucket list, which is getting longer and longer.

As per my sig, note I am once again looking to take an NCL cruise, and have booked myself on the Getaway for 2016! I just finished reading your review of it, and loved your review! Looks like a ship I will enjoy.

Now back to your Bermuda review:)

So I guess that means that the other 2 times you went to Bermuda you stayed there. How lucky! That would be an awesome thing to do and be able to see everything while there. I would love that but can only imagine the prices to do it.

The Getaway is a beauty. I hope you have a wonderful cruise and great weather when you go next year.

Thanks for joining me on the review. :)

Haha. I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't understand it. Maybe someone on here can let us know. :p

I was actually going to say that but shouldn't there be some type of bar to attach to it to make it long?

That is the craziest decor for La Cucina I have ever seen! French Impressionist paintings and pictures of French Polynesia with French furniture??????? Kind of inexplicable for an Italian restaurant! LOL!

I agree the Venetian MDR does look dated. It's pretty, but too fussy.

Exactly. I'm glad someone else noticed it. I remember when I mentioned the hump from the Star cruise (which had several other humps) people on here pretty much told me I was crazy and there was not hump. It became a game with me and the hubby every time we passed it and we would play it off like we were drunk when we stumbled on it. I know damn well there was a carpet hump there and others just must have not noticed it. I believe I even had a pictures and people still said it didn't exist. Being the person I am and taking the pictures I do, I notice EVERYTHING!

Ok, so wait, now you have me wondering if I mixed La Cucina and the Le Bistro up??? I'll have to double check on it but I thought I had them right. YIKES

I thought that too but the hangers don't detach from the upper rod. And I'm not bringing my own!

Enjoying your review of the Dawn. and like many others, have been anxiously awaiting it--and looking forward to your experience in lovely Bermuda. We were on the Dawn in 2004 when it was still a fairly new ship and will sail on her again next April from NOLA.

Being from MA (born in Boston) I had to chuckle about Dunkin' Donuts being everywhere you looked--how true. Most people around here have to have their daily "Dunkie" fix. Personally, I'm not a fan. I actually love Tim Horton's like your hubby and wish they had one around these parts. Going to Canada soon and can't wait to stock up on bags of ground Tim's...:p

So you got to see the "T" in close proximity to your hotel. Yep, that's the good old "red line" which you heard and saw going by. Actually, the part of Boston you were staying in on Morrissey Blvd. is Dorchester.

Looking forward to the rest of your review. ;)

I think the "bar" is just the slanted piece of metal on the front of the shelf. My theory is that it's not meant to go completely across the closet, only the width of the shelf to allow space for longer hanging items on the rest of the upper rack to the left of the shelf and it's away from the side wall to the right as you face the closet to allow storage of the ladder(s) for the upper berth.

Thanks for the slots tip - I'll look for that Rain Forest machine! I won big on a leprechaun machine in the hallway of the casino on Getaway - $989. But I was playing at Max Bet. I hit after 4 spins and nearly fell over when the counter kept going up and up and up! LOL!

Good point. I think this is a Cruise Critic Meet & Greet with the senior officers question!!! :p

We have a "Sam's Club" here (part of Walmart) that sells the bags of Tim's and man is it expensive. The hubby has me donate to his "cause" every time I go there. :p

Yes! Dorchester...I was trying to figure the name out and couldn't remember it. That's where we were. :D

Your theory may be right. It's just an odd piece to have in there to me. Anything you need to hang up whether it be long or short can be hung on the upper rail. Waste of money they could have used to make my "cooler" an actual refrigerator and colder. Just saying... :D

Glad to hear you won on the Getaway. Where were you at to give that tip out prior to me being on the Getaway? LOL I love tips on slots. :p

I thought that too but the hangers don't detach from the upper rod. And I'm not bringing my own!

My husband brings most of his clothes packed with the wire hangers from the dry cleaners - he actually pushes the hangar down and folds his shirts around the hanger and and folds the hanger down on top of the pants. So unpacking his stuff is just a matter of hanging it up. Then he discards the hangars as he uses the garments and they go into a laundry bag after being worn. We've used the shelf in this way before. I do wonder if originally NCL originally had the regular wood hangars in all staterooms like they do in the suites? Maybe that is why the hotel style hangers don't match each other or the closet?

I am really enjoying all the pictures of the Dawn. We have been on her 3 times and will be coming out of cruise retirement next August to sail on her again. We last were on a cruise in August 2012, which was also on the Dawn. We have not been on the newer ships yet, the Gem and Pearl are the newest for us so far. But, like you, I will accomplish cruising on all of the NCL fleet!

Looking forward to reading more about your cruise and Bermuda. We have been there 6 times and have always loved it there.

I always travel with 40 wire hangers from the dry cleaners. They take up no space in my suitcase. They fit in the outer zip pocket. I hang all of mine and hubby's clothes and use the shelves for my kids. I can't stand using their hangers that don't come off the hook, it's very annoying. Plus five hangers is not enough. So I pack my own.
