Life is Good Cruising Posted July 23, 2016 #701 Share Posted July 23, 2016 Looks like we are ships passing in the night. (haha) We have several cruises coming up - but none that I see with my past cruising friends... I do hope Club Royale keeps offers coming that won't conflict with other "already have cruise dates"... -Cheryl I'm sure we'll meet up again :)

OTownNick Posted July 24, 2016 #703 Share Posted July 24, 2016 Linda the 9/16/17 Harmony prices are the lowest of any posted trip at this point. That's partly why we chose that date....

I would love to. I'll check my schedule. Right now all I have booked is 11/14/16 Anthem from San Juan with my husband, Matt and Harmony on 06/11/17 with extended family. 20pluscruises Posted July 26, 2016 #708 Share Posted July 26, 2016 Maybe I'm the only one who was not aware of this, but recently sailed with friends so went ahead and purchased a beverage package. The casino host said "OH good, you have a beverage package and don't need a sticker. That's good, the cost of the drinks won't be deducted from you next cruise perks". Has this always been the case? Thanks!
nancronin Posted July 26, 2016 #709 Share Posted July 26, 2016 Yes - on one cruise on Explorer my husband was told that he was on the minus side because he had drank too much - when we met with the Casino Manager and the Slots Manager, they tried to say that the casinos in Vegas did the same thing - kept track of your drinks against your play! After that we decided not to go on a RC ship if it didn't have the mechanism to put your key card in to keep track of your gambling. I assume by now that they all have it but can someone confirm this? We are going on Serenade in February and I won't be happy if they don't have it. They can track slot play with your car, but not certain how they do the tables other than by hand. Maybe someone else has more info on the table games versus slot games. I did try asking the host if there was any news on the new club...standard answer "we are told on a need to know basis". All other guests were told the same. I will say...quite a few guests had to ask for extra perks that were normally offered. (spa, restaurant, etc.) I was offered a specialty restaurant or couples massage at the beginning of the week. However, there were a handful of VERY VERY high rollers on the ship that they were busy with most of the cruise. I would be too. :) Sadly, everyone was complaining about how tight the slot machines were. It was a fun group in the casino that week so we drowned our sorrows together on a few nights. :) Edited July 26, 2016 by 20pluscruises

Thanks! I sailed on Anthem the beginning of June in a star class suite (ultimate drink package is included in star class). When I met the host, Shirley, she put a sticker on my card and then realized we were in star class, at which time she told me to make sure to tell the bar servers to put it under the ultimate drink package so I wouldn't get charged under my casino number. Some of the bar servers could not tell the difference and I had to explain to them what to do. I was unaware that drinks in the casino were being charged against my account but perhaps this is relatively new. Swiss
BEENSAILING Posted July 27, 2016 #712 Share Posted July 27, 2016 Linda - any comments on drinks in the casino? PS - I called today and seems to be another part of in flux... free drinks? maybe not... goes against your play? maybe.... I hope to get a clarification from a supervisor in an email at Club Royale before we are in the Anthem.

Cheryl, I also had to sign for drinks in June on Anthem, but did not have to sign anything in April or May on Anthem. I asked the Host (Shirley) in June why we are signing now and she said it was being tracked by CR and would be deducted only from the CR casino budget, not against our perks. I think Shirley will be on vacation when you go back in August, can you let me know who the Host is on your sailing as we go back again a few weeks after you. Shirley did have an assistant in training named Amal who was very sweet, wondering if she is still on board, thanks :) Let us know what CR tells you. There seems to be lack of communication re the new program between Royal, their revenue dept, the people who answer the phones at CR, and the hosts in the Casino which doesn't make it easy trying to get clarification on questions. Will let you know what CR says and re host. Edited July 27, 2016 by BEENSAILING

maryjaden Posted July 27, 2016 #716 Share Posted July 27, 2016 We changed our Harmony sailing from June 10 to August 12 in 2017. I am looking at something between my 11/14/16 Adventure and the 8/12/17 Harmony. Maybe a girls trip like we did with the slot tournament last year. Would love to know if they are also deducting the free dining and spa services :( Edit to add...my cruise before this last one was almost dollar to dollar spent and won. This cruise was an additional $450 compared to the last one. Just about the price of the dining and drinks. Also, the actual cruise price was a bit less than the previous cruise and it was an older ship. (thus, why I ask if the spa and diner is now also deducted) Thanks all! CL basically wipeed my bill. I aksed host how much aprox I can spend that they will cover and then I spent this amount and CL clean my bill. We had to sign for the massage...didn't dawn on me as I just assumed it was for an extra tip. Now, I'm starting to wonder. This was a few weeks ago. Wish they would just give us an update on what the changes are up to this point. Also, we did have to sign for dinner on the cruise before and they did ask for my card each time in the casino. Why I question the $450 extra charge. The cruise before (these two last cruises) they never asked for the card after day one. Edit to say....no big deal just would like to know so I can decide if it is really worth having the massage or dinner and bottle of wine. BEENSAILING Posted July 27, 2016 #720 Share Posted July 27, 2016 A few cruises ago... can't remember if on Freedom or Indy.. I was given a certificate from Casino host for a massage. I was told - assured - it was a comp - other than tip. Then when i got home I found out it was deducted from my future credit (cash at cage or for future cruise) becuse someone at CR on the phone told me! ( I knew something was off in my future "rebate"...) This was before the new program. I spent time on the phone and went all the way to a supervisor at CR and money was put back onto my future cruise credit. Since then I am wary of accepting dining or massage certs from Casino hosts. Hi Mary...any way you can switch to the 9/16/17 Harmony? We're on that and so is Linda... :) would be nice if we could all get together again. On another note- I noticed this year Veterans Day is on a Friday and I get that day off so looked at 3 night cruises that weekend...Enchantment out of Miami or Majesty out of PC. Wanted to see if CR would give be anything extra (I already applied all My certificates)...well just randomly they said they would give me $250 to apply to these cruises "if I book today". Lol...I probably could have asked for $375 based on that's the amount they HAD been giving me just for asking if I could have anything based on my recent play....But that wasn't a bad deal since those are cheap cruises anyway so I booked EN....(I may switch to MJ though). Point being- just ask and you never know what you get just for asking.
maryjaden Posted July 28, 2016 #722 Share Posted July 28, 2016 Nick, I wish we could switch, it would be great to see both of you again. However, September and October are harvest months and Matt can't get away.
BEENSAILING Posted July 28, 2016 #723 Share Posted July 28, 2016 (edited) I don't remember seeing anything about getting cash at the cage still? Did I miss another email:) I know I have been getting the same types of emails others talk about, but this is the first I heard about cash at the cage again. Thanks No - this is about something that happened to me when they were still doing cash back. I added in that info to give it a time frame reference about the giving of certificates for on board amenities - how back before the program changed free wasn't always free. 20pluscruises Posted July 29, 2016 #725 Share Posted July 29, 2016 Thanks, I did have a casino host tell me years ago that anything they gave us came out of our bottom line except for when we were invited to casino tournaments for those they did not count our drinks. Now with this new cert giveaway we are getting 2 for every 1 we use with both my DW and me in the program. Told her she is going to have to start taking her sister with her and I will stay home. Thanks! This makes sense as to the extra charge when I upgraded my room. Upgrades were free prior to this last cruise. Interesting to see what happens with my next booking....
