Those last two "tools" are the most important of all, provided you've got available hootch!

How 'bout adding a grill to your list? Would be nice for you to hold a BBQ out on your veranda. They make a folding version, don't they?!!.....just a suggestion.

Aha! You gave me a great idea! Nowhere in the "Prohibited item" list do they say that a still is not allowed. We can make our own moonshine for free. It should be Ok, as long as we don't set it up inside the cabin. I have some spare space outside my cabin so it should be no problem.

Chengkp75- I too want to thank you for your service to our country and here on these boards.

Thanks for the shout out to the WW II merchant marines.my dad and uncle both served in that capacity. My uncles boat was torpedoed and he spent several days floating in the ocean. They both eventually received their honorable discharge papers and we're thrilled. ( dad even used them once for a cruise discount and was so proud. Our family was humbled to have 3 different military members at his graveside when we bid him farewell.

My thanks to them, and my deepest gratitude.

Hoping not to get a "friendly reminder" from the hosts about thread hijacking, or advertising, I'd also like to make a shout out to my alma mater, the US Merchant Marine Academy. Kings Point is the only federal academy of the 5 to have sent their undergraduates to war zones, and during WWII 142 students lost their lives. For this reason, USMMA, not West Point, or Annapolis, is the only academy entitled to a Battle Flag bearing the streamers of the battles that merchant mariners participated in during WWII.

Sorry, just had to put that out there.

Then she should get along perfectly with my DD8!

Cool! We can identify each other at the connection party by showing our "DD's".

It will be nice if they can have someone their age to talk to on this trip. Not sure how many other kids their age will be on this Celebrity cruise.

Maybe you should thank those who were drafted out of high school who served our country. Those were the real heroes.

Ok. Now I have to ask. Call me a newb.

What does DH (? husband?) , DW, DD, etc stand for?

I figured out MDR (main dining room) and OP (original poster).

thanks!

dear husband, dear wife, dear daughter....etc.

Absolutely. Anyone who has served in uniform is a hero. The merchant mariners were, and still are civilians who were in essence drafted into service.

DH: dear husband, dumb husband, or d**k head, depending on DW's mood.

DW: dear wife (no other meaning allowed, if you don't want to be d**k head)

DD: dear daughter

Even the ones who volunteered are heros. I wonder what would happen today if we needed to fight a war. A draft? That would never happen. Volunteer? Nah, let someone else do that. Its scary.

I agree with you. Those who were drafted and those who volunteered deserve the highest respect.

Someone recommended a meet up with kids on the first day before sail away. I'm going to see if there is any interest on our cruise thread.

Ahhh... ok. I would never have guessed (which is why I am now single, and I always referred to him as the A**H****)

Thanks for the chuckle :)

Just coming off Celebrity Summit this past June, I can relate to

some of the issues some of you had. Even though our

cruise did not have to come back to port to get repaired.

The Summit is in desperate need of an over halt. I did not

care for all the rust in the cabin's bathroom, even mold at the

bottom of the sink and how dated the decor looks.

A couple of port days we were getting off the ship and

had to dodge the condensation coming down from the ceiling.

This was our first time on Celebrity and we don't think

we will be coming back.

The service at the MDR was very slow, we missed most of

the shows because of this. Going back to Royal..

I was surprised to see rust on the Constellation. They were beautiful ships but age has caught up with them. You may want to check out the S-class ships.
