This is soooo frustrating to me!!! Just when I thought I would be for sure taking a cruise in March, here I am booked on another ship that could still be used for FEMA!! I just switched from one cruise that was "up in the air" to another that is "up in the air". Just e-mailed PVP since she told me I would be on the Elation. We'll see!!

All this is making me dizzy! We were booked on Conquest out of NOLA - changed; we are booked for Thanksgiving 2006 - changed ... Luckily, we are within driving distance to Galveston & NOLA, so we will be able to work something out. I certainly wouldn't fly to Miami to sail Elation. Maybe a newer ship ... I like to have everything planned so this is driving me nuts :)

I certainly can understand everyone's frustrations. This has been a very tragic year for the south coast. My thoughts & prayers are with those who have been impacted by these storm systems.

I know what you mean about having things all planned out. I'm the same way. Planned, laid out and planned again just to make sure. I'm quite anal when it comes to things like that. :o

Mind you, I'm not blaming anyone or anything- Just saying I feel your pain. :)

My sentiments exactly..I'm a little "anal" myself and like to know what I'm doing if at all possible. It's the type "A" in me..LOL

It states that they are going to do four and five day cruises from PC year round beginning 3/06. I wonder which ship they are going to use? Also what will the Elation do the other part of the year? Or are they trying to say that the Elation will split her time between the two ports? If so then that statement above is rather confusing.

According to Seatrade insider this is what will be happening with the various carnival ships:

Carnival Conquest:

* Nothing mentioned (although from rest of deployments sounds as if it will stay in Galveston)

Holiday:

* Will resume 4/5 day cruises from Mobile after FEMA charter is over and it undergoes a 3-week refurbishment in drydock.

Sensation:

* Will undergo a comprehensive refurbishment before reentering service in March 2006.

* 4/5 day cruises from Port Canaveral start March 23, 2006 through October 19 (then this itinerary will be taken over by Elation on October 23, 2006.) The itinerary includes Nassau and either freeport or Half Moon Cay on the 4 day cruises and the 5 day cruises call at Nassau, Half Moon Cay, and Grand Turk (throughout 2006 a from May -September 2007). From January - April 2007 and October - December 2007, the five day itinerary will be Key West and Cozumel.

* Itinerary includes4/5 day cruises from New Orleans resume in October 2006.

Ectasy:

* Will undergo a 35 day multi-million dollar refurbishment with upgrades to almost all public areas and staterooms.

* Will resume 4/5 day cruises from Galveston in April after returning from FEMA charter

Elation:

* Will continue operating 4/5 day cruises from Galveston through April 3, 2006.

* Late April 2006 will launch a 7 day program from miami through mid october 2006. WIll sail every sunday on a brand new route including Half Moon Cay, St. Thomas/St. John, San Juan, and Grand Turk. * Takes over 4/5 day itinerary mentioned above under sensation on October 23, 2006. The itinerary includes Nassau and either freeport or Half Moon Cay on the 4 day cruises and the 5 day cruises call at Nassau, Half Moon Cay, and Grand Turk (throughout 2006 a from May -September 2007). I wonder how accurate this info is because I am booked on the Ecstacy for March11, 2006. I specifically asked if I would be on the Elation and was told that I would definitely be on the Ecstacy...I don't care, I just want to be on a ship!

If the Conquest stays in Galveston after the port of New Orleans resumes cruise ship operations that probably means that Freedom will end up in New Orleans (as has been suspected for a while), taking over the Conquest's 7-day sailings out of NOLA.

I would contact your TA or Carnival as this has been sent out to the TA's and to the media so I would say that it is correct. Carnival has found a gold mine in Pt. Canaveral and I can see why they are moving a third ship there. The Fantasy and Glory sail out full week after week.

I re-read the e-mail that the original poster posted and it does state that the "7" day Elation cruises are cancelled ,so there is a very good chance that I will be sailing on the Elation on March 11. My confirmation I received does still say Elation/Ecstacy. If this is true then I am happy because the Elation is my favorite ship thus far, even above the Conquest:)

Cruisingator2,

Are you a TA??? I have called Carnival since I booked with them directly and they still tell me I am sailing on the Ecstacy in March. This is soo frustrating to me. I REALLY hope I am sailing on the Elation because of my fears that the FEMA contract will be extended. I cannot imagine that Carnival would only have the Conquest sailing from Galveston in March since it is Spring Break for most Texans...I hope you can help me here GATOR!!!

Stacey, I'm not a TA. Again I would contact whomever you booked with and find out what they have to say. I have seen the information released by Carnival posted on several different sites concerning the moving around of their ships. Good luck and I'm sure that everything will work out ok for you.

Thanks Gator, I booked directly with Carnival...So, one more case of mis-communication. I am stunned at the level of mis-communication within this corporation. I cannot imagine that there would not be some kind of a meeting before each shift to inform these employees of what they should be telling their customers or at least an e-mail. Unbeleivable:eek: It's pretty sad that we have to get our information here instead of directly from them.

Huh? Is this for real??? I just woke and am not even half way through my mocha. If this is true, this is an incredible intenary. This is the first time I have heard of a CCL going to their long ago promised Turks port.
