Cruisingcouple95 Posted October 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2015 Hello. Couple of things I'd like answers to if anyone could help. Just booked the ventura for easter next year to the canaries. But never booked a cruise which is in the school holidays before. Firstly will there be alot more children than usual and do they usually cause more trouble if so than say a cruise outside the school holidays?? Secondly does the ventura have an adults only pool besides the one you have to pay for?? Does ventura have a dedicated cinema or is it in the theater couldn't quite work that out? Couldn't find information on these matters so sorry if it's been asked recently. Any info is appreciated greatly though. Regards :)
ann141 Posted October 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2015 We love Ventura and are sailing to The Canaries on her next February. There probably will be more children onboard because it is school holidays but we have never found it a problem as they are usually happy to be at childrens' clubs. There is a small adult only pool at the front of the ship which is free to use and we tend to use it most days as it tends to be quieter. It is usually easier to find a free lounger at that end of the ship. There is no dedicated cinema. All films are shown in the theatre but we have found that to be fine. Enjoy!! Ann:)
Somerset Cruiser Posted October 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2015 We disembarked Saturday, prior to the half term cruise, and were told there were to be 600 children on board this week. The source? none other than EM Hughie, yes he is alive and well!

Yes I should have added, 600 on a ship of that size should not be an issue.

mandylennon Posted October 31, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 31, 2015 We have today returned from a fantastic half term week on Ventura and can confurm that films are shown in the theatre and in the Tamarind club. I dont know how many children there were on board, but we didn't experience any problems. There was generally a good mix of ages. The weather on our cruise wasn't particularly hot, so the children on board tended to use the indoor pool. Also the excellent entertainment provided was jam packed which may also be due to school holidays.
chocolateduck Posted October 31, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 31, 2015 This half term on Ventura there were approx. 600 0-17 year olds - 300 of which were 13-
Thejuggler Posted October 31, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 31, 2015 Many schools do not now take Easter holidays two weeks over Easter. The holidays are fixed for the first two weeks in April, regardless of when Easter falls. This will reduce this cruise as an option for some parents. themanwithahat Posted November 8, 2015 #14 Share Posted November 8, 2015 There's a pool which you access through the Spa, but it isn't actually part of the Spa, which has no children allowed and is usually quiet.
Mewat Posted November 8, 2015 #15 Share Posted November 8, 2015 You can also access the adult only pool (Oasis) from the outside decks by the retreat. It is a very small pool but at the press of a button it becomes the water equivalent of a treadmill and gives you a very good work-out:) Michele
