Wondering if anyone could give a description of Palm beach. Did I read correctly, that there is a very noisey oil refinery really close to Palm beach?

We're looking for a nice sandy beach with facilities and amenities. Does Palm beach have an oil refinery just off their shoreline within plain sight from the beach?? Does anyone know how much it would cost to take a taxi from the ship to Palm beach and how long of a ride is it? And are there taxis waiting when you get off of the ship? We're not really into snorkeling. Just looking for a nice sandy beach with a little shaded area or cabana. Does anyone know if you can rent chairs and umbrellas there. Does Palm beach have any eateries? Are there any taxis waiting at Palm beach to take you back to the ship? And lastly, are there any shopping areas close to the beach or close to the ship?

There are no refineries near Palm Beach, you might be thinking of Baby Beach where the refinieries are across the street and down a ways, but it is not loud or anything.

You can get a taxi to Palm Beach for about $17.00 US dollars, and is a short ride. There are taxis all over the beach area so getting back is not a problem. The beach is absolutley beautiful. The beach is behind all of the high rise hotels. On Palm Beach there is also a lot of water sports that you could do, if you have an interest.

On the other side of the street across from the beach, there are just tons of resturants, going from causal to fancy, so you can take your pick. Our favorite restuarant is called Salt and Peppers... Outside casual dining that is really good and fun. Also all along the strip are booths where locals sell all thier goods... It is fun shopping.

We have never rented chairs because we own a timeshare, but I understand that you can rent chairs on Palm Beach for $5.00.... All of the beaches are public in Aruba, including the ones behind the hotels so you shoud not have any problems at all. The beach is also lined with straw huts too... It gets hot in Aruba, even with the tradewinds.

Anything else I can answer for you, just say so. We just returned from Aruba this week, and the weather and beach was wonderful.

You might want to consider taking the bus instead of a taxi. The bus station is directly across the street from the pier and it costs $1 each way. You can get off at any of the hotels. As the previous poster said, all beaches are free.
