RocketMan275 Posted December 17, 2015 #51 Share Posted December 17, 2015 That's why princess went to the ones on the wall. I doubt it. The one's on the wall can be refilled. Princess buys the fluids by the 55 gallon drum. Much cheaper than 1 0z packages.
Zooguy Posted December 17, 2015 #52 Share Posted December 17, 2015 Or how about putting that info on one of the TV channels? Unless there was an outcry, maybe replace an episode or so about the wonders of tanzanite or ammolite? Sean That was cute.
greenie082756 Posted December 17, 2015 #53 Share Posted December 17, 2015 Getting back on subject which is how to reduce the lines at Passenger Services on embarkation day. Ya know that area where outside the casino(above the plaza area) where they have long tables to sell gold, t-shirts, watches, etc.? Well on embarkation day they should just do the same set up and have coffee/drink cards, punches for cards, information pamphlets for the internet (with someone knowledgeable to answer questions) or dinner reservations @ pay venues. Just a thought! All those things you do when you first come on board that all seem like a necessity before you can relax. :D:D

Hobart18 Posted December 18, 2015 #55 Share Posted December 18, 2015 Whilst on my last cruise on Golden Princess what I did note was that there was a much greater push to buy things which I didn't notice that much on Dawn Princess. I used to enjoy the morning shows but even that had a big push for people to go to places on the ship to spend their money. They had a head buyer on board who ran sessions on how and what to buy either on board or in Port Vila. There also seemed to be more sessions by the Art Auction people with daily sessions on buying art. I know there is more competition amongst cruise lines now coming into Australia so that could be one reason why they are pushing this. This started to become very obvious and started to get a little annoying.
cruzsnooze Posted December 18, 2015 #56 Share Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) Just got off of the Regal and noticed a couple of items that I believe could be improved for all guests. I noticed this on the first and second day of the cruise. The Passenger Service desk was lined up because people wanted: 1. their Cruise Card to be punched so they could put it on a lanyard.. If the cards came pre-punched, I don’t believe people would care. I would be in line to get a new unpunched card, people do care if you disfigure their property. I collect my cards and want them pristine. I suspect the lines at guest services are not really about card punching. I hear people asking about their OBC that is not showing up yet. seacruise9 Posted December 18, 2015 #57 Share Posted December 18, 2015 Hi, I took a cruise aboard the Sun Princess in Australia in June 2015 and the cards were pre-punched. On this cruise (with mostly Australian passengers), the vast majority of passengers wore their cards on lanyards. I felt strange not wearing my card on a lanyard. The popularity of lanyards seems to vary by cruise region. Chuck
Rare Kinkacruiser Posted December 18, 2015 #58 Share Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) Thanks fior your answer. I have 52 unpunched cards. Maybe I should list them on Ebay. Interested? I'm joking about Ebay. I agree that they are a rather special collectors item :) Edited December 18, 2015 by Kinkacruiser
pablo222 Posted December 18, 2015 #59 Share Posted December 18, 2015 This whole thread made my day. :D I agree on having some internet instructions on the TV or better yet, as a running video in the internet cafe on the first day. Just as long as they don't have to start the video themselves... ...as their home VCRs have been flashing '12:00' since the eighties...

That's no joke. There were some people on our last Royal cruise that didn't use the TV because it was to hard to operate. :D That's probably why Princess decided to lock out the input option. Wehwalt Posted December 18, 2015 #61 Share Posted December 18, 2015 I often winder how much stuff gets taken home from a cruise, pens, notepads, that sort of thing. I don't think Princess loses any sleep over that, and in fact is happy for us to do so, as it will serve as a reminder ... did anyone say new booking? temple1 Posted December 19, 2015 #62 Share Posted December 19, 2015 Why not give the check in people in the terminal the punches to punch the cards?
lyannea Posted December 20, 2015 #63 Share Posted December 20, 2015 Internet instruction should be provided at the bars, yes, watering holes during the first day or two of your cruise and then, at specified times throughout the cruise, at a drinking establishment It's a win/win situation. Passengers would get their questions answered, wet their whistle, the cruise line would make more $$ from thirsty pax and the info desk would have shorter lines. As a matter of fact, why not have the punchers available at one of the popular drinking establishments on the first day ? And, if anyone is genius enough to fabricate an automatic punch machine, like the 3 hole punch, where you press a button and the 3 hole-paper punch works automatically. More ingenious, attach a quarter machine, - you place your card down, put a quarter in to the machine, and voila, you get your card punched, Enough said. You now want to charge people to have there cards punched. You can't be serious? Talk about nickle & dimeing. LOL :D:D:D
compozer Posted December 20, 2015 #65 Share Posted December 20, 2015 Why not have a punch on a thin wire or string in the library? Or better yet, on the first afternoon have a staff person there to punch cards along with checking out books So some passengers don't take 4 books out the first day. I have books on my tablet but I still love reading from a book.

As for internet, they could make an instructional video or series of slides (there are many how-to videos on YouTube) and have it on the Princess@Sea with a prominent link. Reader0108598 Posted December 20, 2015 #69 Share Posted December 20, 2015 (edited) Could it be because the majority of us passengers DON'T want it? I cannot speak for the majority of cruisers as you can.... However I want my card punched to put on my tacky lanyard, so I can flaunt my status on princess:D Merry Christmas everyone! .....oops I mean Happy Holidays to all :) Reader Edited December 20, 2015 by Reader0108598
Wehwalt Posted December 20, 2015 #70 Share Posted December 20, 2015 OK, new suggestion. For Elite, who get the minibar spread and exchange for coffee cards: have a means of requesting this in advance. That way no one has to work bringing the spread to the cabin, arranging it, then taking it away. The passenger also has to do less work.

Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted December 20, 2015 #72 Share Posted December 20, 2015 And what about pre-selecting the composition of the mini bar set up ( exchanges) rather than bother room service on the first day. What about delivering 30 coupons in lieu of a minibar setup? A soda or water bottle or coffee would cost one coupon; an alcoholic drink would cost two. They would be dated for that voyage only and have no value after the cruise. Mixing a drink at a bar is far cheaper for Princess than purchasing tiny bottles plus the labor to make it the minibar sets, deliver them and change half the stuff out. I don't drink in my room; give us something that everyone can use wherever they want- bar, pool, room, lounge. As for hole punches, DH brings his own and punches the cards as soon as we step away from the check in desk. It's not a big deal to bring one if someone wants to avoid the PSD on the first day. Fantastic idea of the coupons instead of the min-bar setup. Taking it one step forward. Instead of coupons, put that on your Cruise Card and this way it would be much easier to get a drink at any bar on the ship without cutting coupons. Your Cruise Card is only valid for that cruise, too. So, NO COUPONS only VALID for THAT CRUISE.
