Majesty of the Seas Upgrades

Recommended Posts

Majesty is no longer getting a waterslide, Sabor, Izumi or DreamWorks in the upgrade.

This is the email I received from customer relations:

Some adjustments have been made initial plans for the upcoming revitalization of the Majesty of the Seas. As of this time, there are no longer plans to add the specialty dining venues Sabor and Izumi, the DreamWorks Experience, or a waterslide. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause. However, the revitalization will include VOOM WiFi, poolside movie screen, family jacuzzis, and an update to the casino.

I thought that may be the case with the waterslides as they. Haven't been listed on the website for a while. Too bad about Sabor.

I am so disappointed to hear this. We are taking our 8 & 10 year old granddaughters on the Majesty on the August 1st sailing. They both were excited for the slides and DreamWorks.

Those changes would not be needed for the Cuban itin.

R&D

True, those items would not be needed for a Cuban itinerary, but I really believe that Empress may be the ship heading on Cuban itineraries, when Royal can put Cuba on its itineraries.

Yep. I couldn't care less about the waterslide, but the addition of Sabor and Izumi would've been nice.

I believe it was you that I discussed this with a while back, after the "new features" disappeared from the website.

I knew something was up when they moved the date up to go to PC. I knew there was no way they can get that all done in two weeks.

I'm going to cancel my cruise on May 27th. I paid a fortune for a JS even at the 150%.

The good news is, I can go on the Majesty pretty much any weekend I want to as I live close. I'll choose a different weekend, but I want to make sure John Denton is on board and not on vacation.

Question about dining on Majesty - on my last cruise, an area transformed into an Italian restaurant on some nights (I read it became Mexican on later cruises.) I also had a fantastic Chef's Table experience on Majesty. Are these no longer there?

I was wondering if maybe they didn't change over to Sabor since they were happy with the current arrangement. But, I really haven't heard much about these other venues lately (although I admit that I don't read every review).

It will be interesting to see what changes will actually occur after the April-May refurb

I checked the US website and no mention of the waterslides, Izumi, Sabor or Chef´s Table anymore. Family Jacuzzis and poolside screen are mentioned as are enhancements in the casino.

I don´t think that the specialty restaurants would pay off regarding the fact that the Majesty has mainly first timers. But the waterslides? Would be a good addition for the families...

Alter Ego, Compass Deli is still listed as venue. That´s where they had the Italian Dinner. Back in 2014 there was no Chef´s Table offered (but reading my review they do offer it on deck 4 in a private dining room area).

I guess there isn't enough room for the slides to be worth the investment. If they're not gonna be awesome its probably better to not have any at all.

Perhaps they want to keep the Compass Deli space into a flex space for different specialty dinners. I'm sure the hotel director (John Denton) will come up with some fabulous ideas for this little ship.

I'm not canceling my May 27 sailing because I'm now really curious what refurbishments they will do. I know some that are already cancelling. Maybe that will create a price drop, maybe not
