elliair Posted March 18, 2016 #1 Posted March 18, 2016 I've never seen a Barry Manilow concert on MUTS, nor would I even consider sitting through one. Evidently, Princess Cruises was using his Las Vegas concerts without permission and is now suing Princess. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/princess-cruises-faces-lawsuit-barry-876787
JF - retired RRT Posted March 18, 2016 #2 Posted March 18, 2016 "The legendary artist is currently on his final concert tour and these unauthorized lido deck rebroadcasts are hurting his ticket sales" I wonder if his ticket sales are "hurt" because people are taking a cruise to see his concert instead of schlepping to Las Vegas OR if it is because once you've seen the concert you don't want to see Manilow in person??:D:D
floridalover5623 Posted March 19, 2016 #3 Posted March 19, 2016 Thank goodness. It's long time that they dump that video for something decent.
Oh2B@C Posted March 19, 2016 #4 Posted March 19, 2016 I write the songs that make the whole lido deck sing... la, la, la-la
cruzsnooze Posted March 19, 2016 #5 Posted March 19, 2016 Maybe Princess should have gotten authorization first.
Treven Posted March 19, 2016 #6 Posted March 19, 2016 I know being able to watch Barry Manilow in concert is the only reason I take a Princess cruise, instead of going to Lost Wages (Las Vegas). Actually I've never seen his show on Princess, nor have I ever been to Vegas.
gcvt Posted March 19, 2016 #8 Posted March 19, 2016 If there's anything that would make me want to jump overboard, that would be it :p

Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted March 19, 2016 #10 Posted March 19, 2016 The article made it seem more like the broker who sold the music to Princess should be in trouble, not Princess. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
RiahFly Posted March 19, 2016 #11 Posted March 19, 2016 I didn't know he was still alive.. :( I totally laughed out loud at that! If anything, I think Princess is doing him a favor; helping reach a wider, more captive audience! He should be paying them :D
Colo Cruiser Posted March 19, 2016 #12 Posted March 19, 2016 Tina Turner should get in on the act too.
reney313 Posted March 19, 2016 #13 Posted March 19, 2016 "The legendary artist is currently on his final concert tour and these unauthorized lido deck rebroadcasts are hurting his ticket sales" I wonder if his ticket sales are "hurt" because people are taking a cruise to see his concert instead of schlepping to Las Vegas OR if it is because once you've seen the concert you don't want to see Manilow in person??:D:D That was my initial thought...who would want to see him in person after watching that video. :D Seriously though, I don't understand the part of the complaint that it would hurt their ticket sales. Either you like Barry Manilow or not. You certainly wouldn't take a cruise in lieu of going to see him. I think Swank will have more culpability here. Princess paid them for the rights. If Swank didn't have the rights to sell they seem more guilty. And Princess showed the film in International Waters. On that note, no loss to me for it to be pulled from the line up.

Actually I've never seen his show on Princess, nor have I ever been to Vegas. Must be an old concert......Barry hasn't been in Vegas for a few years... You'd think he'd want the publicity? :p
woodyren Posted March 19, 2016 #15 Posted March 19, 2016 The world should sue Barry for crimes against good music. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Forums mobile app

shredie Posted March 19, 2016 #17 Posted March 19, 2016 Tina Turner should get in on the act too. Please, please, please! LOL.

[emoji57] Come on, he gave us the Band Aid jingle, and the McDonald's jingle. :D. But not the Oscar Meyer jingle http://m.mentalfloss.com/article.php?id=64713 Edited March 19, 2016 by SadieN

Shipshape? Posted March 19, 2016 #22 Posted March 19, 2016 I am on a Princess cruise in June would I have time to cancel if Princess win the case and continue to show Barry Manilow on MUTS?
pablo222 Posted March 19, 2016 #23 Posted March 19, 2016 Thank goodness. It's long time that they dump that video for something decent. Yes! More room for tina turner.
Rare tml1230 Posted March 19, 2016 #24 Posted March 19, 2016 If there's anything that would make me want to jump overboard, that would be it :p i just knew that when i opened this thread i would get some good laughs to start my day….u'all didnt disappoint me!
PrincessLuver Posted March 19, 2016 #25 Posted March 19, 2016 I didn't know he was still alive.. :( Actually Barry would be one of the younger passengers on a Princess cruise....NEWS FLASH....Princess cruisers are not exactly the hip, cool and slick crowd of the cruising world!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes:
