mcoakle Posted March 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2016 My wife and I loved our one Celebrity Cruise a few years back. We're sailing out on Sunday. If anyone has any insight to share, we'd really appreciate it. The Molecular Bar was our favorite. Does the Silhouette have the World Class Bar as a replacement? It sounds to be similarly themed. Any thoughts on it? Also, I love craft beer. Does it have Gastrobar, which I read is on the Eclipse. Next - any thoughts on parking? Have most people parked at the port? What about other last minute ideas? We have been looking forward to this cruise since we stepped of the Eclipse a few years back.

If anyone has any insight to share, we'd really appreciate it. The Molecular Bar was our favorite. Martini bar - awesome drinks, great atmosphere and fun! Does the Silhouette have the World Class Bar as a replacement? This is new but not impressed, right outside shops on board, no atmosphere, and bartenders didnt seem very happy...It sounds to be similarly themed. Any thoughts on it? Also, I love craft beer. Does it have Gastrobar, which I read is on the Eclipse. No gastrobar, dont know much about beer sorry, but saw many choices Next - any thoughts on parking? Have most people parked at the port? I took uber from hotel. Have parked before, easy. What about other last minute ideas? We have been looking forward to this cruise since we stepped of the Eclipse a few years back. I am also a returner from several years ago... was loyal to Royal for a long time, but Celebrity as special as it was back then.. no comparison to RCCL. you really did feel "special" and crew went out of their way to ensure you were..... wonderful cruise 3 weeks ago.... planned 2 more this year already!! cant praise Silhouette enough... also had the ttreat of an aft wrap SS... fantastic! mcoakle Posted March 23, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted March 23, 2016 Thank you. We are really looking forward to it. We'll get back to RCCL at some point, but Celebrity will be tough to beat.
magnolia888 Posted March 23, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 23, 2016 Next - any thoughts on parking? Have most people parked at the port? I was on the Silhouette last week (3/13 sailing), and we used Park N Go for parking, just outside the FLL port. They were so busy, we had to leave our keys so they could valet park the car for us, but it was fine. We got right on the shuttle, we didn't have to deal with the long line of cars at the port, and it was cheaper, esp. by buying ahead. The only drawback was that our car wasn't in covered parking, but it was ok with us. Coming back, we were so tired it was nice to just hop in the shuttle again to take us back to our car. Could not have been easier.
karena1 Posted March 23, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) clipse. Next - any thoughts on parking? Have most people parked at the port? . We always use Park n Go. They are fantastic. Close to the port, take you right over when you park and they are there immediately when you get back. We have used them numerous times and will continue to do so. https://bookparkngo.com/ We always book online before we go. If anyone has any insight to share, we'd really appreciate it. Next - any thoughts on parking? Have most people parked at the port? There are hotels near port giving free parking (or $5 per day) during cruise if you stay with them 1 night ahead of cruise. So we arrive day ahead and stay 1 night - free parking almost covers the hotel vs. no hotel and cruiseport parking deck. Try 'stay123.com' Used them once and they offered cheaper night than hotel direct. Good Luck

But my experience with that is that it takes forever to get a shuttle when you get off the ship. We are off by 8. Last time it was almost 9 before the shuttle came to get us. Now I do a Priceline Bid hotel if we go over the night before and then still park at ParknGo. Way faster and so much easier.
Lineaway Posted March 24, 2016 #8 Share Posted March 24, 2016 Just off 3/06. World Class bar was mostly empty. Stopped once but was told our Classic package would not apply to any of the drinks at that bar. We left. FWIW If you want to get a drink without waiting in a line. Our best luck was at the bar on floor 3 in the Atrium. Cruise was great. Yours should be too.
mcoakle Posted March 24, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted March 24, 2016 Thanks for all the responses. Usually I spend quite a bit of time on these boards before a cruise, but I've been slammed at work this go round with little time for researching. I'll check out the Park N Go today. We are staying at the Hyatt Place by the port using Hyatt points, so it is free already. With the Park N Go - We do the "self assist" debarkation where we are off the ship by 7:30 or so. Do the shuttles run that early? We ran into an issue in Miami where we had to wait for 45 minutes or so to get our shuttle. That was a little frustrating. We'll probably check out the World Class Bar and see how it goes. We have the upgraded drink package to give us some more wine options. We were a little disappointed to see Molecular go. Jenlegs Posted March 24, 2016 #10 Share Posted March 24, 2016 We sailed on the Silhouette on Valentine's Day -- the Molecular Bar was still there, although we never made it, but we did enjoy the Martini Bar and the martini flight "show." My father-in-law is a big fan of craft beer, and was happy to find that Cellar Masters had an interesting selection -- perhaps not the largest selection afloat, but some thoughtful choices. He participated in a craft beer tasting one evening (I believe it was $20 per person) and enjoyed it very much.

imapost2003 Posted March 25, 2016 #14 Share Posted March 25, 2016 Cellar Masters has a pretty decent selection of craft beers in bottles, for a ship anyways. Lots of international offerings. You can stop in and grab a beer and take it with you wherever you go. Also not sure if Star is still running cellar masters on the silhouette, but she is amazing! Tell her what you like to drink and she will accommodate you. I was on the silhouette in January and participated in the beer tasting, it was amazing. We were supposed to sample 6 beers i think, ended up trying at least 9, all included in the $20 fee. Only downside is cellar masters has limited hours so the good beer wasnt always available. Rare richstowe Posted March 26, 2016 #15 Share Posted March 26, 2016 Just off 3/06. World Class bar was mostly empty. Stopped once but was told our Classic package would not apply to any of the drinks at that bar. We left. I'm sorry to hear that . Our experience on 2 cruises was that the bar staff was willing to accommodate our classic drink package at every bar we went to . Not necessarily full size or top shelf brands but always well made . copi2boys Posted March 26, 2016 #16 Share Posted March 26, 2016 Are there any draught beers on board anywhere?
imapost2003 Posted March 26, 2016 #17 Share Posted March 26, 2016 (edited) I think the only choices for draft were Amstel light and Heineken which they had at a few bars. Sunset Bar, Pool Bar, and casino bar for sure, dont know about the rest. Also just noticed, I will be on your Silhouette sailing next January. See you at the bar. vvnh16a Posted March 27, 2016 #20 Share Posted March 27, 2016 Does the Silhouette Martini Bar have a "mini" martini that fits in with the Classic Beverage package ????
imapost2003 Posted March 28, 2016 #21 Share Posted March 28, 2016 There is a mini sized martini, but rarely saw them on my January sailing. Less busy times for bartenders led to more mini martini's, but when it was busy it was all larges for people with the premium package.
msppilot Posted March 28, 2016 #22 Share Posted March 28, 2016 We just got off the Silhouette yesterday and I must say we had a great time. You will find some craft beer at different bars around the ship. Mostly Cellar Master, the Pool Bar, and Sunset Bar. Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale are just a few examples. I upgraded to the premium beverage package since none of the craft beer are covered in the classic package. Even with the premium package, not all the craft beers were covered by the package in Cellar Master. They had a few beers that I did not get due to the price. For example, the were selling Lambic Framboise for $24.00 a bottle. I have bought this in the local liquor store for $9.99 a bottle. Overall, we had an excellent cruise and loved Celebrity!
