Golf cart rental?

Just ran across info where you can rent golf carts to tour the island. Has anyone done this? Is it safe? (We are experienced golf cart drivers...but on the golf course! :D) Do you drive on the "regular" road? What all can you see and do? Have never been to Bonaire so don't know how large the island is, etc. Can you get to Lac Bay / Jibe City area? Is there a "safe route" to get there? Anywhere else recommended to go/see with a golf cart rental?

Thanks.

It's a great way to explore the island on your own pace. And it's safe to drive around. It's about 20 min. Driving to jibe city. But if you want to see some highlights also then drive the southpart and see salt mountains, slave huts, pink salt Bassins, donkey sanctuary, flamingos, lighthouse and end up at jibe city. This takes about 1,5 hour driving.

Also looking at golf carts. Is Bonaire safe to be driving around by yourselves? There would be two of us, not a group?

There were 3 of us travelling solo in one golf cart (the larger one that is supposed to hold 4 but they would only allow 3 adults). We felt totally comfortable travelling the island solo. There were tours/divers in trucks/vans passing us and we coincidentally traveled a good part of the route with a moped group so we were almost always "in sight" of other folks yet traffic was light enough that we felt fine travelling in the golf cart.
