Judith02 Posted October 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2005 Has anyone heard if there will be any changes to itineraries that include the Caribbean areas hit by Hurricane Wilma -- Cozumel, Cayman Islands, etc.??
ferret Posted October 22, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 22, 2005 I don't know if Crystal is, but I know Carnival is. http://www.carnival.com/CMS/static_templates/weather_update.aspx I'm watching this closely because I have a cruise departing out of Ft. Lauderdale on Monday.
Judith02 Posted November 9, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted November 9, 2005 Hi. Has anyone heard anything whether or not Crystal will change its December 6, 2005 itinerary that includes Cozumel?
Liat Posted November 10, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 10, 2005 December 6 is still three weeks away. Cruise lines don't have to make final decisions until a day or so before a scheduled stop. When we cruised this part of the Caribbean in September 2002 we literally sailed between two storms and changed the route AFTER we left Miami. We stopped at the same ports, only in a different order. The Caribbean is pretty small and offers some degree of flexibility. All the cruise lines have agents in their various ports who can keep the home office, and the ships' captains quite up to date. phaelon56 Posted November 15, 2005 #5 Share Posted November 15, 2005 There was a useful link posted over in the Princes forum earlier today http://www.cozumelinsider.com/?Page=CruiseShips&Sort=Arrival It shows all the ships arriving in Cozumel during the next week or so. The cruise ship piers in Coz were destroyed and will have to be rebuilt. Until reconstruction is complete all ships will have to anchor and transfer passengers to shore by tender. Before Wilma Cozumel could handle as many as 11 - 12 large ships per day. The number will unquestionably have to be reduced for now.
