CharTrav Posted July 1, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 1, 2016 Now now. Surely it's better than nothing. Is it better than dial up modem running at 2.8kbps? Or is it that it's not as fast as your 50 or 75 Mbps broadband? [emoji4]

Hawkmoth Posted July 2, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 2, 2016 (edited) The wifi coverage on the Viking Sea is very good, but the ship isn't always in a place where the wifi system can connect to the Internet. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's slow, and once in awhile there is no connection at all, even though the local wifi signal is strong. Lucky Granny Posted July 2, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 2, 2016 But it's included, so maybe you get what you pay for.....except that it wouldn't be any better if you paid by the minute.

CharTrav Posted July 24, 2016 #8 Share Posted July 24, 2016 Am on the Star now docked in Bergen. Measured the wifi. Did four times and performance varied from tolerable to not so great but still in the low end of broadband : 0.3 to 0.6 /0.5 to 1.4 Mbps download / upload. Expect this will change by port and the number of simultaneous users.
Rare molymoo Posted July 28, 2016 #9 Share Posted July 28, 2016 We just returned from the Viking Homelands itinerary and did find that the internet was inconsistent and often frustratingly slow ... managed to at least read any really important emails on my iPhone but generally didn't bother trying to do to much with the internet after the first several days. It WAS a vacation after all!
