samb413 Posted August 25, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2016 Hi, I have been researching a lot about renting cabanas in Labadee. I read that you can book them up to a year in advance. However, I contacted the concierge through email and they said it is too early and that I would need to email him back one month prior to my sailing (we sail on July 2, 2017). Also, I asked him other questions which he didn't really answer, he just said he would be "happy to help closer to sailing." My other question: I know that the cabanas hold 6 people max, we have 9 in our party. We would like to rent two cabanas, but we only have 1 grand suite in our party. Do you think we could rent two? Everything I have read about cabanas on CC says you need to book them early and you'll miss out if you wait. Did they change the rules to only book one month out now? THanks for the help! Clarea Posted August 25, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2016 Depending on the concierge and the number of cabana requests, you may be able to rent two cabanas with only one suite. We were able to do it, but we had to wait until other suite guests had a shot before they would commit to the second cabana.
samb413 Posted August 25, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted August 25, 2016 Well that's good news! We just don't know what we'll do if we only get one cabana.
phredclark Posted August 25, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 25, 2016 We had a similar experience to that of Clarea - we booked two cabanas with only 1 suite. We took one over the water, very nice and one onshore for those that wanted a little more shade. It worked out great. I think it is well worth the money. jamesr3939 Posted August 25, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 25, 2016 We rented two on our first visit to Labadee. I did one in my name and the other in DW name. We were the only ones in the party in suite. I did them first thing after boarding the ship, but I don't think I would chance that on an Oasis class ship. You were lucky to get any response this far in advance. We have EMailed 2-3 months in advance with no response. I had better luck this last year when I sent an Email three weeks in advance. Since I knew exactly what cabanas we wanted I asked for them by number. It took about a week but I got a response confirming I had them. About a week later the mass Email went out to all suite holders and there were only 12 of the 20 cabanas available. I assume the other eight had already been spoken for, like I had. Merion_Mom Posted August 25, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 25, 2016 Now that they have doubled the price, I think that availability is not so tight. ;)

I got responses from two of the concierge fairly quickly. I asked about renting two because we have a party of 9 and they said I can just get one since one cabana can accomodate 9! YAY. So which cabanas are the best? We would like to be in a cabana over the water. I guess this is just an "Over the water cabana"

jk04 Posted August 26, 2016 #13 Share Posted August 26, 2016 Based on a photo I saw of the area, W5 and W6 look like they share one long balcony area with one set of stairs. I think that would be great for a large group.
Johndoe813 Posted August 26, 2016 #14 Share Posted August 26, 2016 On my last cruise i booked my cabana out a year and some months before my cruise. I asked my TA about them and she contacted Royal and they made it available to me on their site and i did it through there. I don't know if it was a one time fluke but it was awesome. This also was not at the suite beach so it may be different on that side of things.

MattInFLL Posted September 2, 2016 #18 Share Posted September 2, 2016 (edited) I am not sure why there is a concern about booking one month out. That's how it goes for everyone. We were in star class and we booked our preferred cabana two weeks out. And there were plenty of empty ones on our day in Labadee. I would not worry about the timeframe. madimorg Posted September 2, 2016 #21 Share Posted September 2, 2016 I booked my over the water cabana about five months before my sailing. It showed up on my online cruise planner and even though it said onboard only the system permitted me to book it. It was fantastic and worth it to my group of five. Also, when you dock at Labadee, where do you head to get 'checked in' for your cabana? We've been to Labadee once before, but never booked a cabana :) Thank you! TYSONBOXER Posted September 2, 2016 #24 Share Posted September 2, 2016 We had an over the water cabana at bear foot beach. It was great. We booked it two weeks prior to our sailing through the concierge. The cabana next to us had ten people in it. So I guess 9 will be ok. You also get a cabana boy that gets you drinks. KarenR122 Posted September 2, 2016 #25 Share Posted September 2, 2016 Just a word of caution...if you are booking directly with the concierge, double check that they have you on the list when you get onboard. Our last cruise this June we booked about a month out with the concierge, have confirmation emails, payments etc. We showed up to check in to the Cabana they forgot to add our name to the list and double sold our cabana to someone else who was already there. After much going back and forth we were basically SOL since all cabanas on the island were sold out. Kind of stunk for us as my daughter can not sit in the sun for an extended period, the main reason why we rent the cabana. We needed to go back to the ship and miss the beach day.
