Astro Flyer Posted September 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2016 (edited) That's part of the 3 for Free promotion..."booking the stateroom location you wish to sail in for the price of the lowest category within that stateroom type during this promotion only". For example, you pay for the least expensive inside category & you can get the most expensive available inside cabin. Although it does exclude certain top categories & I had to pay an additional $20/pp. for the most expensive IA category cabin. So you get a better location (category) of the same type (inside, oceanview, balcony, minisuite) cabin for a cheaper price. emeraldlake Posted September 8, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2016 Yes, just spoke to Princess about that. Although it states that your price is for lowest category in stateroom type, when you go to make reservations, Princess changes the rules a little and does charge an upcharge for the higher categories. Their statement is a little misleading and they really need to clarify that. It is a little like bait and switch. Not a very nice tactic.

Yes, as with previous sales with the 'one price', for any balcony stateroom on the Grand Princess for instance, the BB category is the highest type balcony at that price. The BA, B4, and B2 are at a higher price. It can be confusing at first when trying to pick a stateroom. moki'smommy Posted September 8, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 8, 2016 It is a little quirky. We found that we could not get an HA cabin under the promotion without paying extra for it. The HA cabins are classed as midship and none are priced at the entry level for type of cabin. It rather turned "3 for free" into "2 for free." hillslife Posted September 8, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 8, 2016 Turned out 2 for free for us also..booked OV obstructed on Pacific Princess, hoping to get OV (or maybe the upgrade fairy would come) but was told there are only one grade OV cabin on this smaller ship...so no free upgrade per their advertisement. Fingers crossed we get a regular upgrade, but not optimistic cause the Fire & Ice cruises usually sell out:( So maybe if we don't get one of the advertised item, some more OBC or free speciality dining or shore excursion would be a nice perk as a substitute:confused:

My TA tried to get us a dinner at a specialty restaurant to replace the unavailable cabin upgrade. No dice.
Astro Flyer Posted September 8, 2016 #8 Share Posted September 8, 2016 The sale states that "Upgrade offer excludes select categories, including but not limited to premium categories and suites". The only way to know which categories are considered select categories is to search for a cruise's pricing. Apparently my IA category meets that definition but it's only $20 more than any other inside cabin for a 15-day cruise and we get the free tips & OBC.
