Oasis of the Seas Cabin 1758 Review

Remajm,

I assume you are asking about gratuities.

I think it would be inappropriate for me to say publicly.

I can say we struggled with how much is appropriate and enough for the great service we were given.

I hope we left enough.

Chris :)

Chris,

I understand, their are so many different threads about tipping the genie so it was hard to know what was correct. She was very nice and was always able to accommodate us when needed, she even came downstairs this morning at 6:15 to assist us off the boat after we told her we thought we would be fine getting in the line and making our 8:00am flight but I started to question if we would make it and called her. Of course she looked just as beautiful as she did the night before when we said our goodbyes to her, I was expecting her to run down in tshirt, shorts and hair thrown into a ponytail but she looked like her genie self. Really loved our room but had some major issues with the balcony door. Could hardly get it open and they worked on it 2 times and then it wouldn't shut tight so lots of air coming through and made lots of noise through the night. We had some serious seas the last 3 days of the cruise with a ton of wind, so made for some sleepless nights. Hope to experience it again as of course has been my favorite room. Like I said before we got a great deal on it with our casino rate so not sure that will come again soon.

I tried to just film the cabin without a running commentary and let the room speak for itself. No one wants to hear me telling them that this is a closet or this is a bathtub.

If anyone has any questions about the cabin or cruise, I would be happy to try and answer them.

Chris 🙂

Thanks again for your review.  A few more questions if you don't mind.  Did you have any concern about privacy and/or noise from down below?  Also, how bad was the noise from CK?

Very little noise from below.  When you out on the balcony there is a ship’s walkway on the deck below just beneath you but is a good distance below and we didn’t have any noise.

The noise from the Coastal Kitchen was noticeable.  A lot of banging and clanking of pots and pans.  We only noticed in the morning and late evening.  It didn’t last more than an hour and it really didn’t bother us.

Hope this helps.

Your input helps, but does not make our decision easier.  Please define "morning and late evening".

I wonder why a ship would put a "noise source" next to such a high end suite.  We had these noise problems on DCL two times and learned a cabin selection lesson quickly.

Philpcruiser,

Our stay in this cabin was several years ago.  I am doing my best to try and respond to your questions.

Unfortunately, I cannot give you a specific time we heard the Coastal Kitchen noise.

We tend to not spend much time in our cabin except for sleeping.  We were never kept awake at night by noise.  We may have heard some noise starting at 6 AM but we are early risers and this did not bother us.  It was a good excuse to get up early and go next door for breakfast at the Coastal Kitchen and find out what the noise was about.

In our opinion, the noise was minimal and did not detract from the great cabin.  Others may have a different opinion on the noise.

Royal Caribbean offered us an upgrade to this cabin at a minimal cost so we did not pay full fare for this cabin.

We have stayed in the Crown Loft Suites several times on Oasis.  While those cabins are much smaller, they are not adjacent to the Coastal Kitchen and are quieter.

I agree with you.  I do find it a little strange that Royal Caribbean would put one of their highest end suites right next to the kitchen.  I am guessing that Owners Panoramic Suite on the port side does not have the same noise issues.

To answer your privacy issues, there are none.  The window shades are all electro- mechanical and do a good job of affording privacy.  You need them because portions of the suite are visible from the walkway on the deck below.  The hot tub on the balcony is also visible from the walkway below.

Hope this helps.

Chris
