Weight limit for snorkeling?

Recently booked snorkeling with Sea cow and noticed there is a weight limit of 250 that we had to acknowledge. I have a member in my party who is about 280 who wants to join. Would he able to? Not sure why the restriction is in place.

We can think of several reasons. In some cases, the weight limit (and even age limits) are imposed by insurance companies who cover the tour provider. The other issue is that you are looking at a boat/snorkel excursion which means getting back on to the boat. Depending on the boat, and ladder, there can be a weight limit for safety purposes. I have had to help more then one person (over the years) get from water back onto a boat...and there is no way I would have wanted to do that with guy/gal weighing 280!
